Rental House

Sha February 4, 2007 24

Today after my running event, I decided to visit my dad at the new rental house. Plus I needed to hook-up the Internet for my little sister laptop. It seems we’ve moved to Blk 2 of Marsiling Drive. It sure brought back alot of memories going back to the place as it has a lot of history for me.

I can still recalled when I was a kid, I used to stay at Marsiling Rise at block 125. My neighborhood gang when every time we played the boys group from the stretch of blocks 2 to 5, we would always end up fighting in the end. Soccer boots would be flying over my head as I tried my best not to get beaten the living daylights of.

I was small, really small for my age, Primary 3 I think but I can pack a punch. But as usual I would always get back home with new bruises no matter what. Thinking back, I can’t believe I was that gangster and reckless but it was kinda fun in a childish sort of way. When you’re young, you have this mentality that you’re ‘invincible’.

Well anyway the new rental house my dad & little sister is occupying was quite a ‘steal’. $400 monthly for a 3 room flat. It was his friend’s house in-fact. The fella is in Malaysia and the flat is currently vacant.

Here’s a photo of the living room

Looking at my dad earlier I really feel guilty. At his age, he should have retired but he’s still working. He works as a plant trimmer these days.

At times I feel why am I still schooling when I could be supporting my dad. I mean I wanted to but I’ve invested so much in my studies now, it would be foolish to stop.

I’m just sad I didn’t have the chance to give the life my late mum should have. She never splurge any luxuries on herself, she would always give and give us children what we need.

There was only once when she actually went to the salon and did her hair, I thought she was the prettiest mum around. Sometimes as a child you don’t realize the hardship our parents go through until we’re of mature age.

If I had known then, I would have asked lesser. Well anyway enough of nostalgia, it’s so depressing. Good night

    Sha,

maybe you couldnt provide for her in this world. but do constantly pray for her. Insya-Allah rohnya akan diberkati Allah dan hidupnya di akhirat akan senang kelak.

pengorbanan seorang ibu teramatlah mulia. and yes, insya-Allah, niat you untuk menyara hidup ur father akan tercapai.

Bro, I can say we are in a similar boat. And I’ve been thinking about similar issues too.
    Somehow I can relate.
However, pain and hardship is temporary, always look on the bright side, and the fair road ahead, things will get better. Always be a sunshine to others although sadness fills your heart, at least you’ll feel better.
And let her go, it is hard but Allah loves her, and I know you do too.
    Take care bro.

i was in the same shoes as you were, more or less, and i failed myself.

i hope where i have failed, that you’d succeed. you’re an athlete, you know where the finishing line is – it keeps getting further in the game of life.

for me, i just decided one day to stop running and join another race but looking at what you’ve written, i only hope that you don’t do the same as i did.

    keep on fighting.

Hi there, thanks for the word of advise

yeah true as you get older, you’re more burden with issues and your goal setting to run kinda get ‘lost’ somewhere

i’m trying my best now to stay ‘afloat’ these days with my running, but it’s hard

in singapore context too, running will not bring ‘food to the table’. i’ve a few years left, i hope to go out in a bang

well do share some of your experiences here ok … i’ve plenty of athlete lurking and visiting my blog
