A copy editor in her early 20s gets her chance to become a reporter at a Chicago daily. She’s sent to do a feature on what cool high schoolers are doing. To really find out, she goes undercover as a student. Back at school, she gets to repair her own scarred teen psyche, as she was a total geek in her first go-around.
What Uncle Sha learned
Alright I’ve come to a conclusion that such feel-good-movie that’s loved by chicks have a standard formula to them.
For one, most parts of the story is unrealistic and far-fetched.
Two, you put an ugly duckling of a character, then watch her transform into a beautiful swan by the end of the movie.
Three, always a happy ending baby!
Yeah I know such chick-flicks are so predictable, but somehow it manages to bring out the smiles for most people.
As for me, at times its hard for me to watch such genres.
With today’s film, it was a reminder of my own terrible high school experience.
School wasn’t the highlight of my teen years, and I could pretty much relate to the character Josie “Grossy” Geller played by Drew Barrymore.
And you know the nerd girl Aldys, played by Leelee Sobieski … come on, even with all the nerd outfit she wears, she still looks hot!
I love how the film ends, Sam and Josie locks lips while one of my favorite songs by the Beach Boys, “Don’t Worry Baby” playing in the background.
Watching this movie, I guess all of us have the desire to be appreciated, noticed and loved.
At the end of the day, it’s all about caring the person that’s next to you.
