What Uncle Sha learned
As with the previous movie based on Nicholas Sparks novel, “The Notebook”, I had read the book, but completely forgotten how the story goes about.
I think I now know why I prefer to not remember the details of the story as because both instances it had a tragic end.
In “Nights in Rodanthe” the beloved Dr. Paul Flanner played by Richard Gere was killed in the end.
And to me that truly sucked, as I prefer a happy ending, who doesn’t!
But then again, most of history best love stories has a tragic ending, from ‘Romeo & Juliet’ to ‘Antony and Cleopatra’.
It teaches us about the importance of selflessness in love.

You know what, rather than be all emotional about the movie, I blame the doctor’s kid for his death, haha.
I know it sounds absurd, but the doctor wouldn’t have gone to Ecuador was it, to patch-up with his estranged son.
As with “The Notebook”, the book is once again far better experience than watching the movie adaptation.
I felt the director could have explored more on the intimacy of both Adrienne and Paul, as the one being presented depicts more of a weekend romance, when they’re in fact soul mates.
This is a tender and sweet movie ideal for a rainy night cosing up with your love ones.
