Synopsis
Juliette (Patricia Clarkson), a fashion magazine editor in her 50s, travels to Cairo to meet her husband, Mark (Tom McCamus), a UN official working in Gaza, for a three week vacation. When he is unavoidably delayed, he sends his friend Tareq (Alexander Siddig), who had been his security officer for many years, to escort her throughout the beautiful and exotic city. The last thing anyone expects is that they will fall in love.
What Uncle Sha learned
Watching “Cairo Time” just lights up my senses, albeit slowly but surely.
It’s a sleeper of a movie, at first you’re unsure how the story will unfold, and then suddenly you realized how captivated you are at the unspoken love between Juliette and Tareq.
I might be slightly biased considering I’ve been a fan of Alexander Siddig since his Deep Space Nine days as Doctor Bashir.
Yeah I must confess I’m a sci-fi nerd freak.
The best part of the film only start to happen in the second half of the movie, so be patient, it’s all worth the wait.

Aside from the love parade, the sight of Cairo will impress you. It is such a beautiful place.
My advice for watching this quiet intense of a movie is to read between the lines, and observe the subtle overtones in the body language.
It goes to show, unlike Hollywood, you don’t need to use raunchy scenes to be sexy.
I’m not sure if you would feel likewise similar to me after watching this, but I was truly frustrated that the characters Tareq and Juliette wouldn’t be meeting again, despite knowing they’ve formed a strong bond during the short few weeks that they were together.
