27 Dresses (2008)

Synopsis

Jane is career-oriented and secretly in love with her employer, George. She spends much of her time as a bridesmaid, and has 27 dresses as evidence. Then her structured and ordered life comes unhinged when her younger sister, Tess, re-enters her life, and a reporter, Kevin, is attracted to her. Kevin decides to publish Jane’s secret and her overwhelming wardrobe. Things get even more complicated when Jane finds out she may end up losing George to none other than her very own sister.

What Uncle Sha learned

I got a pleasant surprise when I watched “27 Dresses”, as Katherine Heigl was starring in it.

I’ve always liked her since spotting her since the “Roswell” TV show days.

In fact, if you’ve been following my blog, I just watched her in my last movie review of the “The Ugly Truth”, and no I didn’t know she will be in this one.

With that you can tell Uncle Sha don’t go out that much eh, nor watch that many movies.

Truth be told, despite “27 Dresses” has a better script than “The Ugly Truth”, I didn’t really feel much of a chemistry between Heigl and James Marsden.

The kissing scenes was palpable at best, as if she was kissing her brother, eeyywww!

However the chemistry between Heigl and Gerard Butler was much more convincing for me, but enough about notes on these Tinseltown stars, back to what I’ve learned from the movie.

As with Waitress (2007), I was truly frustrated with the character Jane, played by Katherine Heigl.

I’m a go-getter and stand for my right type of person, and Heigl plays this really nice girl who can’t say NO to anyone, putting everyone’s needs before her own.

So that really got me irked when someone gets pushed around, even if it’s fictional.

I mean who would volunteer to run the whole wedding and be a bridesmaid 27 freaking times! Who would do that.

Hats off to such nice girls, and tell me if you know where to find one right.

Jane kinda reminds me of all the mums in the world ya know. Like I said earlier, as with Janes, mums puts her kids and family needs before her own.

Now I feel kinda sad thinking of the times I’ve taken my mum for granted.

And Tess, Jane’s sister, is there really such girls in real-life? She’s so obnoxious and self-centered.

Watching such rom-com … alright romantic-comedy for the clueless, I began to wonder why girls pine over such movies which has unrealistic situations.

Really I know I’m supposed to learn something from such movies from this challenge, and I am really trying hard, but it’s hard to fathom that this is how love should and am going to be, so surreal.

How is any guy could possibly match up to such fantasy and expectations.

Alright I’ll be more optimistic, I just hope the next movie is a better one.

Watching Katherine Heigl is always pretty easy – gorgeous, charming, smart and funny. Girl has it all.
