Synopsis

With the sudden death of her loving father, Danielle is made a servant by her new stepmother. She also has two new stepsisters, one quite kind but the other one really horrid. Still, Danielle grows up to be a happy and strong-willed young lady, and one day her path crosses that of handsome Prince Henry, who has troubles of his own at home. Luckily the nice Leonardo da Vinci is on hand to help all round.

What Uncle Sha learned

Actually I was dreading to watch this movie, as you can only view so many times of the same old fairy tale story of Cinderella.

But I was proved wrong, as this adaptation of the old classic is more rooted to being more realistic in fact.

Gone are the fairy godmother, the magic dust, and the pumpkin carriage.

Despite such absence, the movie was a success in re-telling of an old classic in a new perspective.

It’s great to know that the fair maiden is not a damsel in distress, but someone on an equal footing with the hero.

I guess that’s why it has a high rating on IMDB website, feminists and chicks loving the film voted high marks for it, as this Cinderella can really kick some ass man.

Drew Barrymore was perfect for the role, she was a breathe of fresh air to watch.

Of course aside from all that head-strong conviction of the character, Cinderella is still a girl who’s looking for love.

At the end of the day, it’s a romantic tale, which has its usual struggle, but overcame such conflicts as love prevails, and they all live happily ever after.
