Tommorrow is my first race of the year

Sha May 26, 2007 13

I’m running the 400m event tomorrow.

My last race was last year, I did 53.75s on a bad leg. Yes that bad of a timing, even a junior could ‘trash’ me.Last year was a wasted year , where I trained too early into the injury and kept getting injured. I’ve learned my lesson.

This year and now currently I’m much more stronger!

Section 3 of 6 Finals
1 1025 Lim, Chin Ken Bvs
2 1011 Lim, Jun Yan Amk
3 1151 Ng, Yan Wei Aaron Njc
4 1308 -, Muhd Shah Unattached
5 1032 Zulhilmi, Afiqul Adi Bvs
6 1198 Wong, Jing Jie Rvh
7 1039 Wong, Chun Foong J Cjc
8 1006 Ahmad, Mohd Farha Amk

I’m being slotted in Heat 3 of 6. It’s the crappy heats. Heats 1 and 2 are usually the top runners in Singapore. Good luck to those, in those heats. I wish I was in it, at least I can try to trail them for a PB. Got 2 JC guys in my heat plus a few promising sec sch runners. I’m like 10 years their senior, haha!

The oldest runner there tomorrow probably!

Well just run my own race lah

It has been a long ardous process of re-training these few months, slowly I’ve seen myself getting back to shape. Fit but not fast as seen from my recent time trials which is

80m - 9.47s
150m - 17.8s
300m - 37.56s

I was injured, recovered and healed but the niggling injury feeling is still there, but the training still continues. I’ll only stop if its bad, but so far, the training that has been given to me, I was able to complete and handle it. Puke or not.

The above timing indicates that I’m doing ok-ok for the longer sprint, while the shorter sprints I’m crap. That’s no where near my personal best. Hahaha yes laugh at my timings for all you want, but you’ve to start from somewhere. You can only improve over time. Here’s my analysis of my two time trials, the 150m & 300m

From my 150m time-trial (17.8s), my predicted timing for

100m = 12.02s
200m = 24.03s
300m – 39.45s
400m = 54.34s

Converted at http://www.brianmac.demon.co.uk/sprints/pred600.htm

So from my 150m time-trial timing , tomorrow 400m race I’ll likely be doing a 54 seconds race. Hahaha I might as well join the ladies category. So slow!

From my 300m time-trial (37.56s), my predicted timing for

150m = 17.06s
200m = 23.07s
400m = 51.77s

Converted at http://www.brianmac.demon.co.uk/sprints/pred600.htm

While my 300m time-trial timing indicate that I could do a sub52 seconds run. Well that’s more like it. And from that timing I should be doing a faster 150m timing. Hahaha weird la I am. I’m more of an endurance runner trying to train my fast twitch muscle. I think it’s easier to train your endurance rather than training for speed.

Hmmm I don’t know which timing to rely on. But I’m hoping for the latter. My goal isn’t that high this year. Hoping for a sub52 seconds 400m timing. And once that’s achieved, I’ll try to go lower

I don’t really feel nervous when I run even at the starting line, but I do have butterflies however, but it only occurs days before the race. Kinda weird. I get all ‘excited’ and kanchiong thinking about if I’ll do well. But one thing I’ve learned over the years is to have faith in your training. If it’s bad timing, then accept it and go back to the drawing board to a better run next time round

“Haiya, I think too much … Just run my own race”
