I’m not a happy man today. Mainly not happy with my performance. I know i can do better.
Arrghh i went into the NTU National Vertical Marathon expecting a good result but at the end of the race i was placed 4th!
Well Vert Marathon was held at Suntec City. You had to run 43 storeys high.
My pre-week preparation was great, my diet was fine and my i recovered fully from my hamstring strain.
My pre-tactic race is to run at a standard running pattern, not looking at the level and not looking down
It was my first attempt at this race as i didn’t know what to expect. I don’t know whether to take 1, 2, or 3 step while running up the stairs, or how spacious is the stairwell or the height distance between the stairs
During race, i looked at the level. I was on the 15th floor when i did that .. arrghh .. that broke my concentration.
Halfway through i can feel the lactic acid at my quads .. oh shit! I was panting hard, the air was so dry and thin (i can still fee it now, my lungs feel different now) but i didnt give up
I clocked 5.44min ..
Heres the top 5 result ..
1st 5.35min,
2nd 5.36min,
3rd 5.42min,
4th 5.44min and
5th 6.05min.
The gap between me and the 5th spot was very large … and although i received a medal, i lost out on a Timex watch by mere 2 seconds (1st to 3rd position got a watch!!) and the 1st position was just like 9 seconds away only!! Arrghh agony
I observed the top 3 are long distance runner while I’m the only sprinter amongst the group.
I guess I’m just making excuses. A defeat is a defeat.
I can only learn my mistakes and come back hungrier & better next year. Ill just take this meet as training
Hmm I’ve been feeling really mushy and goody these few weeks. I’ve been thinking about someone and i feel good about it .. hmm dunno about the other side.
I’ll explore and see how it goes. I’m very optimistic about this
