hairless-cat.jpg

This is posted in advance via timestamp. I’ll be away for the next 2 weeks

I was asthmatic as a boy and I had the usual bouts of shortness of breath and breathing difficulty back then

But I was relatively an lively kid and my chronic condition didn’t dampen my active disposition

Then I grew, and it went away somehow

But recently it has returned being that I’ve a new cat in the house

It wasn’t as bad as I last time remembered when I was a kid, but I’ve my fair share of breathing difficulty at times these days

Well it has been controversially being diagnosed that asthma is associated with housepets such as cats, but the thing is I love cats

So for now I can’t really go up close to my cat, smell it and such

I still play and talk with my cat, but no more playing up close

If only cats are hairless … but guess what, there is a rare breed of cat call the Sphynx and the Rex

Sphynx Cat … looks like Gremlins

Rex Cat … so cute right. I want one

So I searched more online if Sphynx are safe with asthmatic patients

Well disappointingly this is what I found

  1. Well it appears to be a hairless cat, although it is not truly hairless
  2. While the Sphynx is “hairless” it is not a hypoallergenic breed.
  3. The lack of coat is appealing to many who suffer from allergies or have asthma; however, the breed may still trigger an attack depending on how severe the allergies are
  4. Those who are allergic to certain proteins in cat saliva (deposited on the cat’s skin and fur during grooming) may react to Rex and Sphynx as much as to other breeds. This is a highly individual thing

So I guess it really depends on how severe my asthmatic problem is and I first need to find out about it

I’ve never really diagnose it, there are test that’s able to find out the exact cause of my allergy … maybe someday eh

For now, I’m coping well even with the cat in the house, I just need to keep my distance
