For last Thursday’s National Day, I had quite a packed schedule. Starting from morning up till late midnite infact. It was fun, but tiring. Here’s what I did

Training

I woke up bright and early for my speed session today. I went to NTU SRC stadium and as usual I’ll get stares along the way. They neber see a Malay dude in tights I guess, “Sexay time”. Hahaha.

I need to do over-speed, where you need to use a contraption to pull you and you’ll run faster than your usual running speed on the track. But the contraption is with the coach who is in the East side, while I’m here on the West side.

So I improvised. I used slopes!

To be specific, I sprint downhill on slopes. It’s very taxing on your joints, back and legs, so please take precaution if you\’re doing this. Disclaimer hor, later you get injured don’t blame me. I read somewhere some top coaches don’t really believe in overspeed training as it just makes the body more prone to injury.

Well I\’ve faith in my coach program, and so far, after doing the overspeed session I’m alright. I think it’s all about having a strong body to withstand the training and impact. So offseason you really need to do alot of conditioning, which I did plenty.

Hairol then SMSed me to meet later than our planned meetup. I was supposed to meet Hairol at 11.15am but it seems my vainpot buddy takes very long to get ready, so it was set back to 12pm instead.

So I slowly went back to my room, get ready, surfed a little and lost track of time. In the end, I the one who was late meeting up with Hairol! Hahaha …

Nuffnang’s Rush Hour 3

ndp07-02.jpg

For the clueless, Nuffnang is an online advertising agency from Malaysia which helps bloggers like me make money from the advertisement that’s being displayed on my blogs.

Well that day, they sponsored few hundred bloggers to the premiere of Jackie Chan’s and Chris Rock’s Rush Hour 3 movie opening at Vivocity. To get the tickets, they just need to blog about the event, and just like that you’ll get the tickets.

The purpose of the Nuffnang gathering is for the Nuffnang community to bond and take a sneak peek at Nuffnang 2.0 interface to be launched in October.

Well I\’ve to tell ya the truth Nuffnang, the event was a major letdown. Maybe it’s their first event, the next one might be better, hopefully.

When we got there, I saw the Nuffnang table. After the short registration and choosing of theatre seats, they pointed to us to another area. Movie starting so soon ah? But I noticed another table there with food … haiya, this is the makan area. Say lar

It seems all the Nuffnang staff was busy doing the registration and admin stuff, and nobody doing the mingling and ushering

The only mingling I did was with the fishballs on the food table! Hahaha, I was damn hungry la, as I trained earlier. Paiseh if I ate too much and didn’t left any for anyone. Also with no staff ushering, anyone could just walk-in.

From the crowd, looks like they were sticking to bloggers that they know. I didn’t quite see anyone that I recognise. Luckily I went with Hirol, if not, I’ll be lepaking one corner alone. We\’re also the only Ma-lai-ren there, but from our tan, we look more like In-do-ren construction workers! Hahaha

There was supposed to be a speech by the big boss and detailed preview of Nuffnang 2.0, hmm that didn’t happened and materialized. I’m still clueless over the event …

But the movie made up for it. I mean if you\’re the serious-movie goes who harps on details of the movie being accurate or real, this is not the movie for you. I mean it’s a “movie of convenience”. The hero never get a scratch or the calvary always arrive on time. But for me Chris Tucker is super irritating dot com lor! Must chilli his mouth, so vulgar

In fact after the movie, I was expecting a gathering or sorts, or maybe a group photo, that didn’t happen also. Hmmm …but I did bumped into Mr Malique, finally someone I know!

Anyway thanks Nuffnang for the tickets! You still this Melayu Boleh support!

After the Nuffnang event, both of us headed down to the Padang to catch the parade on the big screen.

NDP 2007 (At Marina Bay)

ndp07-03.jpg

Getting NDP tickets these days is like winning a lottery. There’s even, a system that picks out the winner by random, just like 4D Toto! And if you do get the tickets, you’ll have a ball of a time watching it up front with the thousands of other Singaporeans and the ministers.

Where else in the world can you get to see our military hardware being used in a carnival sort of event. I say we\’re putting our military investment to good use; which is second only behind Israel for our military budget

Well sad to say we didn’t get the tickets to join in the mass propaganda at the Marina Bay, so we headed over to the Padang to view it on the big screen. But before that, we tried to soak in the Marina Bay atmosphere by going there awhile, and take a look

Oh boy it was packed!

ndp07-04.jpg

The crowd of human traffic really reminds of the good old Malaysia Cup days. The feeling and atmosphere is similar. Patriotic, loud and squeezy! Very very squeezy. So for the ladies, not a good place as you\’re bound to be ‘molested\’

ndp07-05.jpg

We exited the MRT at Raffles Place, made our way down to Marina Bay via Esplanade there. After the bridge underpass, the crowd was just like sardines. Those who came earlier, got their good seats.

ndp-07-06.jpg

It was a good view, overlooking the sea, where most of the parade action will be seen, but however they won’t be able to catch the performances on the floating platform, so that’s why we choose the Padang instead. At least there’s a big screen to view it

ndp-07-07.jpg

But before we headed down to the Padang, we wanna wade our way through the crowds. Check out the chicks and even mingle with the construction workers … as we looked like one ourselves!

ndp-07-08.jpg

Makciks in tudung came in arms with mats, food and some gossiping. The mat and minahs was dressed to the tee in red and with over-sized shades looking like goldfish. Even the foreign workers decked out in their best outfit, donning the free party gift such as the NDP cap.

ndp-07-09.jpg

Everyone came with someone and looking all smart and nice. Well most of them are … It was to be a happy day for all. A public holiday. And for those who are working today, well I do hope your bosses are paying you well and enough for you to stay behind in the office.

ndp-07-10.jpg

And everyone was busy with their own things waiting for the parade to start. We envy lah some of the guys there. Some CMI guys coupled with hot looking chicks. We consoled ourselves telling to each other maybe it’s their sisters. Hahaha!

ndp-07-11.jpg

Well the further we went into the Esplanade area, the more packed it is. Sometimes you gotta stand your ground and plough through the crowd or some of these morons might topple you down. So I guess I’m putting my training to good use.

ndp-07-12.jpg

I don’t get it with some parents with prams who came down to the Esplanade. I think its not a good place to bring young kids here. I mean its hot, dingy and squeezy. They\’re better off at home. Also they tend to use the pram to just whack anyone in front of them when in the crowd. Another moron

ndp-07-13.jpg

The furthest we got to the Esplanade walkway before reaching the NDP Marina Bay platform was around the ‘the Powerhouse\’ before the security cordon off the area. Still people was flocking there at the barriers to get glimpses of the parade. Not my kind of thing, standing up and enjoying the parade

ndp-07-14.jpg

So we headed back through the crowd yet again, to get to the Padang. Wah lau, some of the people really got BO and some people after a whiff, I can tell they never showered. And some comes sleeveless.

I would like to just smack these people. I don’t want to rub against your stinking perspiring arms, and if they never happen to shave, eeekss the sight of your armpits hair makes it even gross!

ndp-07-15.jpg

Watch out for Part II tomorrow … Will Uncle Sha and Hairol survive the BO?
