No Need to Stretch

Wah more and more studies confirm stretching no need to do liao!

However I do believe it’s the type of stretching during which part of the exercise that I believe is essential.

I believe and practicing dynamic stretching (active moving stretching) before my exercise while static stretching (the sit down and stretch type) after my exercise.

There you go! Do it … so far it works for me.

‘Always stretch before exercising’

That sage advice has echoed in the halls of workout rooms and high school gyms for decades. It sounds like a good idea and is widely practiced, but in fact there is little or no benefit to it. Research has shown that people who stretch before exercising are no less likely to injure themselves than those who do not.

In one such study, physiotherapist Rod Pope of Charles Sturt University in Australia examined more than 2,600 army recruits during training. His conclusion: ‘Stretching was assumed to work in preventing injury, but there was no evidence to suggest it did’ Based on his study and those of others, Pope said he recommends that the army stop mandatory stretching before exercise, saying it’s a waste of time.

Stretching can feel good and help prepare the muscles for exercise, and it might have benefits for people with certain conditions. But evidence does not suggest it does anything to reduce injuries during exercise.

i once thought stretching was a waste of time too. not until i experience an awful cramp in the middle of an olympic size pool! i blame it on my ignorance to stretch beforehand.

i use to have a friend who swims with me and she teaches me which muscles to stretch. once when she’s not around, i did the stretchings on my own, and anyhow. at first i was fine. then after a few laps… my foot starts to ‘jam’. hurts like hell!

I think thats the major cause of death in the pool. can happen to an experienced swimmer too.

i’m no expert but stretching has its uses and i guess its the application that matters.

tell me about it, i pun pernah kena cramp dalam pool. but then again i kena the cramp bila i betul2 penat selepas buat training on land.

so when you swim dun be too tired or get someone along swimming wif u
