Imagine you’re in a race where you find a competitor that won’t back down
Someone who is as garang (headstrong) as you with a ‘never say die attitude’
You’re in for the race of your life
Who will then win
At the end of the race, I believe there’s two factors that will help him/her win a race
For one, someone who stay true to their race tactics and not panic will usually win. Training starts months in advance. Aside from the amount of time you put into the workout, there should be also quality training with the right winning mentality. Such a mindset will help you later on during such a close race. Someone who is well prepared, will have the confidence in running down their opponent. Take a look at the video below, the winner doesn’t lose form and doesn’t stiffen up nearing the end
2007 400m NCAA. Winner (6th lane) is less ‘stiff’
Secondly, sometimes athletes just have days where they just feels ‘great’. They will be on-form and feels as though nothing can stop him/her. It’s like you’re in a zone. Each time you’re up against all odds, you just muster up that ‘no guts no glory’ mentality, dig deep and just have the ‘heart’ to pull an astonishing run out of the bag. Look at the last leg run for this 4×400 race. From nowhere, two straggling runners just came out of nowhere to finish 1-2
NCAA 4x400m at 2002. South Carolina (1st) and Baylor (2nd)
Over the years I’ve my fair share of running head to head with other athletes
I’ve won some, and I’ve lose some too
Both ways, it’s always a learning and humbling experience
From there onwards, bring that experience to your next race
Bring it on yah

Those were the days :)
Bring back memories of our time.. Sorry I can’t respond much, just these.. I’m very tied up with work and I hope you are doing well:)
I remembered chasing Kenneth and Koon Kiat even though I knew I cannot compete with them.. Lols, remembered once they were shocked when I started my 300m so fast.. They were playing catching up initially, but I was overtaken nevertheless anyway.. I kept them at bay like sticking glue..
For those of you who hasn’t ran a 300m programme.. 8 times of 300m at 42s is no joke!~
Good ol ‘painful’ days of speed endurance hur
I miss running in a group and wif ya
