How much HIIT should I be doing

HIIT or High Intensity Interval Training is a form of cardio, one that is quite intense and taking lesser time than your usual slow cardio. This was my staple form of training when I was still sprinting.

Now I’ve to remind myself that I no longer run competitively and my main goal is to gain mass.

So with that people I bid adieu to such a form of training. I found out the hard way that I was actually losing weight after 2-weeks of bulking!

After researching online I’ve come to a conclusion to cut my usual HIIT workouts, and rely on a slow form of cardio instead.

Well the kind of cardio that is jogging or walking. Even when you’re at a jogging pace, it shouldn’t really tax you. The person should be able to have a conversation with someone else.

Nothing like a good slope training to burn all those fats away

I’m not saying cardio is bad, but when you want to add pounds to your body, it’s logical that firstly your calories intake should be more than your output. Secondly the workout that actually facilitates the burning of calories should be reduced to a minimum during this phase.

Oh boy considering that I ran plenty for my former training sessions, this will be a difficult change but I’ll adapt. I’m still however doing cardio, albeit not as intense as before, I’m doing just enough to keep my heart at a healthy state.

A healthy body, with a strong heart and a muscular body, that’s my current aim. Do you want to know the exact form of cardio that I do at the gym.

Well I would usually take a slow jog to the gym, 5-8 minutes tops. Then some dynamic warmup, never static stretches. Proceed with your gym workout and end it with a 10-minute cycling before wrapping it up with a good stretching. Good luck, hope these tips helps.

However I still do HIIT training let’s say once every two-weeks. I just can’t go cold-turkey on it.
