I had 2 topics that I wanted to write. But I guessed, time does not permits, so I will settle on something rather important. I wanted to make this an easy read. So please, don’t scrutinized my lack of vocabulary. If I want to write a very detailed composition, I would enroll in the university to study English as my major…
wahahahahhahahah
For 3 years plus plus of being an operational para.medic, it’s a good opportunity for me to share something very important here, since shatdotcom appeals to a lot of readers from all sorts of life. There’s something that had been bugging me, eversince I’ve been browsing and stumbling across other blogs, especially when they wrote about para.medics.
I’ve accidentally came across this female writer, penning a particular entry about us (para.medics in S/C/D/F). Here is rough sketch of what she wrote.
‘ She mentioned that she witnessed a road traffic accident and the ambulance came very late to the scene. And not only that, when the ambulance came, the para.medics took a long time to get the injured patient to the hospital.
Quote : Come already so late! Then take their own sweet time to send the patient off! If that is one of my relatives out there, I would be screaming and shouting at the para.medics!!! ‘
Okay, let’s do the numbering thing, since I am a fan of it.
Number 1 : first and foremost, when there’s a road traffic accident, its idiot proof that there is going to be heavy congestion on the road. A lot of busybodies trying to look at the accident, cars slowing down, and usually they made quite a hassle to already intense situation.
And, if you are talking about accidents that occurred during peak hours, there will be massive jams. Like DUH!!!! We are running on 4 wheels slut my dear. If we have wings, we would eagerly glad to fly to the scene in mere minutes. So bitch my dear, unless you can provide us with better methods that would allow smooth flowing traffic, and donate us with a flying chopper, we will be more than grateful. If you can’t have a good or better solution, go and fly kite! It’s safer! You won’t be seeing any accidents around!
Number 2 : When any accident occurred, we have to look at it as a very serious situation. Because, we do not want to further complicate the injuries. If we rushed and load the patient inside the ambulance and sent him to hospital immediately, he / she might sustained more injuries, especially to his / her spinal cord.

During most accidents, motorcyclist, or vehicle drivers could injure their neck and we need to do our basic spinal management, and this will take some time. We don’t rush and just send the patient ASAP, because if you complicate the spinal cord, and do more damage, the person might be permanently paralyze.

A person with suspected spinal injury could loose his life in mere minutes if we don’t do the necessary step in preventing further injuries. DO YOU KNOW, that a spinal injury victim might stop breathing in split seconds? If we rushed, and we injured the victim, and he stopped breathing, wouldn’t there be more complication?

So, if you see us, doing maneuvering work and doing a lot of other stuffs to the patient, is because we are professional and YOU ARE NOT, and you don’t know what we are doing, so shut up and maybe you should just do your kepohing and be a busybody at some other places!

Number 3 : Eversince I’ve become a para.medic, I told myself, never to loose my cool during any sort of major life crisis situation, especially when it comes to busybodies or frantic relatives. Even when they screamed and shouted at you, I pledged to try my very best to stay calm, be composed, and do the necessary treatment to give what’s best for my patient. What I usually do at chaotic/ballistic/tense scenarios when relatives or busybodies come an interrupted me or any of my team, I would just give them a hard stare, looked them in the eyes and said,
‘I am doing my best to your love ones. And I do want to send him to the hospital immediately! But I have to give him my treatment. If you can step aside and let me do the things I need to do, I will greatly appreciate it’
If they insist on shouting and screaming at me, I just buat bodoh‘, pretend that they are no bodies and just go ahead with the management that I needed to do.
After the whole event, I would explain to them. If they want to listen to my explanation, that’s good enough. If they don’t, I can’t force them. I know how anxious relatives can be, but you have to know, we are doing our very best to aid the patient in what we have been taught and learned. Its very easy to transport someone who is sick, and rushed them to the hospital, but without the basic life support and proper first hand treatment, those who are injured or sick, will have their condition worsened.
So, when you see any accidents on the road, and before you even dare to judge us, take a breather, look at yourself first in the mirror.
Are you medically trained? Do you know how anxious we are to get to the scene first as well? Do you know how hard we had to drive our way through the massive traffics? Do you even bother to think what is playing through our minds when we know that the accidents could be bad and someone’s life could be lost????

If you answer NO to any of those questions above, just shut up, don’t even bother writing what you assumed on your blog, and expressed the dire hatred and your lack of knowledge to what we para.medics do for our living. I don’t dig around what you do for a living and explain how things should be done. So don’t assume that you know what we are going through.
Thank you.
I’ve rest my case!
ps : being laser is kinda fun, in a good way to express your dire frust! so yanni, i hope i can learned a few tricks or two from you!
ppss : uncle sha, its been a pleasure!

hahahah!!!! you rock my socks!!! you rock my shoes!!! you rock my kaki!!! muahahahah!!!
tips from me (ehem ehem) – do not hesitate. if you think you are right, fight for it. tak perlu takut or risau. but of course along the way, if we know we are wrong, do admit and apologize. baru ada cara..
being laser is super fun!!! i love it. and im glad you really enjoyed it. tomorrow is my turn.. oh no!!!!
anyway, about your entry, i really understand the positions for paramedics.. at times we are too worried that we tend to forget that the paramedics are well trained and they are trying their super best to save the poor injured ones.. screaming n cursing won’t help to improve the situation.. so cry if you want to but if you don’t know anything, just shut up you bitch – ooppss eddyboi’s dear.
hehhe… thx for the tips and advice… will heed it….
yes, i knw how worried the patient’s relatives are… but sometimes, when u make us rush into sending the patient to the hospital faster, it will somehow deteriote the patient further… becos proper first aid care, will somehow help the patient… :)
Yeah, Singaporeans just complain and complain without understanding why the need for certain things to be done. I can’t even list down what they complain about cos literally they complain about evreything! Like, cmon, if you don’t like the procedures or methods certain things are done, offer an intelligence solution. Do not just open your mouth bitches and talk as if you know everything.
ooopppsss bitch word by you… eerrrmmmm :)
yar!! i noticed that too!!!
hehehhehehe
yes.. i think they all need to go to complain dot com lah!!! asked them to complain all the want…
actually, i dont care much about complain.. if i knw i did the right think, i just hack care… at the end of the day, the most important thing is the patient…
who cares about what they think!!!
salute you!
thank u very much!!!
*big smile*
appreciate it…
WOOHOO!!! bitch club! wahahahahaha…
i understand u bro… i feel for u.. but its like the same goes for any other profession, cuz ppl tend to take things for granted and all.. well fucken them la horh..
as long as you’re good at doing what you’re tasked to, keep it up! woohooooooo…. may is coming, may is coming….
omg another bitch word… shah will definitely chase me away!!! :P
wahahhaah….
i dont think he would do that lah..
rite sha????
yes… they like to take things for granted, becos for once, they feel that they are the boss of you.. at that time only lah…
so hack care lor…
eh, wats up with MAY???
hey!
I really applaud u PMs for doing this noble job. Im an avid reader to yr blogs btw. Its certainly shitty dealing with CLEVER ppl …
:)
hi blueorix…
yes… ive noticed your blog too.. but then you had stopped writing???
anyway, yar… its shitty when it comes to clever people but they don’t know nuts about what we do….
Truly a Singapore culture … complain till no more to complain, haha
But bottomline, you’re doing a ‘noble’ job as everyone mentioned and people should just give you the space and time needed to do it
Quite an insight in your line of work there!
*tabik hormat ke kanan ….. hormatttttt Eddy* :-p
hahahaha…
HORMAT!!!
wahahhahahhahahha…
eh, i think having a noble job has its perks and downside as well lah…
not everyday you feel noble about what you do.. at times, it can be quite a pain in the ass!!!
Whoa. The Bitch Club has finally emerged. Haha.
I feel like slapping that fcuking bitch left right up down. She knows how to complain and complain and complain.
I understand the job of Para.Medics and I really salute them for the job well-done. But at the same time, I also understand the situations that the relatives of the patient must be feeling at that point of time.
These are all emotions. And Eddy, you are really a cool dude. So keep it up! Hah.
Hopefully, that bitch reads this entry and realise what she claimed in her own blog were truly baseless.
Well-done, Eddy!!
oh no im fainting. kenapa lah korang pakai word bitch ni tiba2… eddy!!!mati beta.. nak pakai word ni – must a bit sensitive you know. shah will scold me if you all use it here… aiyoyoyoyoyo!
wahahaha.. it will be A BONUS if she read this entry!!!
i do understand how the patient’s relative feel. i mean, if i were in their shoes, i will feel the same way…
not all relatives are mean and hostile… there are those who give their 100% trust to you and your crew…
but some are just plain horrible and really sarcastic and evil to the max… those kind of people, i truly despised…
we are there to help your love ones, and you give us that shit attitude in return… that, i can’t accept…
i think everyone should follow medics as observers to understand that it sure is NOT easy being in their shoes.
I have done 240 hours of attachment with them and every single scenario is different from the last.
Loads of effort and patience is needed and not to forget quick thinking on both their feet!
I did 240. can die already!!
Its only like 20 of their shifts and they do these stuff for years!! So those who annays who love to stand around procrastinating the process and add in unrequired stuff along the way, please go away! haha!!
SALUTE LA BABE!!! YOU GO AHBOY!!=D
dee – eddy bukan babe lah.. dia dude lah!! HAHAHA
wahahahahhahahhahah….
true!!! :)
Jadi la yan=) I call everyone babe.. Dude sounds like a himbo termonology hahaha!!
hahahah… WOW 240 hrs???!!!!!
that’s like an awfull lot of shifts that you did attachment with us!!!!
i’m freaking exhausted after my 2 shifts of 26 hours already!!! i feel like i want to break down at times when the calls just get to you…
but then again, i guessed, the most important part is when the patient feels better, after you give your medication, and he survived the ordeal, that’s the best part of my job…
thank you!!!! :)
oh my god.. u’re such a saint beneath that tough exterior!! I wanted to kill the drunkards and whiny rich babis lor.. I’m THAT impatient and m face will be damn black if I face any of that situation ahhaah!!
anyway i usually take one day 12hrs la.. weekends=) If my friend is in shift then I berani take malam (which is not often)..but if not then takper la…
thank u for reminding me not to slow down and gawk at road accidents when im driving. lol.
your job sounds demanding, the extent of which i didn’t fully appreciate till your present entry. thanks for sharing! =)
hey shaz… no prob.. yes… kindly concentrate on the road ahead… pls!!! for your safety… and others as well…
its okay to just glance… and see ‘us’ in action!!! hehehehhe….
demanding, yes.. at times.. but we do have our fun times as well….
I think the paramedic did a good job in attending to me n my bf when both of us got into an accident. They attend to us patiently and they are very attentive..
So to u, juz ignored wat the other said bout this job.. Definitely they know nothing bout it..
*cheers
hey dyllah….
glad that you are okay from your accident… i can’t say much about my other colleagues, but we will try our very best to be proffessional and attend to the injured ones and do the necessary treatment that they deserved…
glad that you are satisfied with our service…
