If you noticed earlier, my blog wasn’t accessible for a period of time. To be exact it was “1 hour, 15 minutes, 26 seconds” to be precise. Such downtime do matter to me as it might mean a difference in my daily web earnings. So luckily I was prepared for such downtime. I can’t really prevent it but I can minimize it. Here’s what I reckon that you do too
Firstly Site Uptime

Sign up with a server monitor system. I found one, and it’s FREE, provided by Site Uptime. The moment my server was down offline, it informed me immediately. It even has option to inform you again if the server is up again plus monetizing by joining it’s affiliate program. This is very important, as knowing when your sever is down, you can next take action immediately to rectify it
Secondly Hostgator

Once you’re informed that your server is down, you need to contact your web hosting company to get it fixed. Well I’m glad I’ve a great web hosting company. I’m using Hostgator Web Hosting. I sent in my ticket support and they replied to me immediately. So the issue was only a problem for that 1 hour plus only. I hope it didn’t interfere with the on-going progress of reading my blog :-)
Keep the comments coming and hope the above advice helps

ahhaha i noticed my blog went cuckoo, wanted to email you but decided you already knew since yours was too. hehehe. thanks for taking action pronto sha! :D
i think my server getting more popular … i just hope we won’t need to move to a dedicated server. will cost me abomb!
Great post. Finding out your site went down from a reader or friend is also pretty embarrassing. Better to hear about it first from a site monitoring program.
Thanks for the kind word … i was just having contingencies plan
as you know shite happens always :-)
Good tip
Sorry, I’m a bit late into this discussion, but still valid, I guess.
Yes its always better to have your blog monitored by a third party monitoring service and Siteuptime is good. you may also want to try http://site24x7.com – a website monitoring service from the makers of Zoho. It offers both free and paid plans.
