Transfer MiniDV to PC

Since someone emailed me about my earlier minidv entry, here’s a quick guide to turn those MinidDV tapes to your PC

What you’ll need

1. DV Camcorder (Digital Video) with firewire capability. Look out for the Firewire 4 pin hole at the camcorder

   

2. IEEE 1394 Firewire Cable. 6pin-4pin (for desktop) 4pin-4pin (for laptop)

   

3. Laptop or Desktop with Firewire support. I bought my IEEE 1394 Firewire PCI slot for less than $20 dollars

   

Just plug and play

1. Attach the firewire cable from camcorder to laptop/desktop
2. Wait for your computer to detect the camcorder
3. I simply used Windows Movie Maker to import the video and also edit it
