Starhub-iPhone

Looks like our local carriers are getting on the iPhone bandwagon. First it was M1, and now Starhub. It’s great to have choices, the competition lowers the price, more freebies thrown-in and overall it’s good for the consumers.

Local carrier StarHub says it will begin selling Apple’s iPhone before the end of the year, becoming the last of the country’s three mobile operators to do so.

In a brief statement Monday, StarHub said it signed an agreement to offer iPhone to its customers later this year, along with “a range of tailored service plans”.

The carrier added that more information on pricing, tariffs and availability will be released in due course.

StarHub follows in the footsteps of competitors SingTel, the first local operator to ink a deal with Apple and has been selling the iPhone since August 2008, and MobileOne (M1), which only last month announced plans to distribute the phone later this year.

According to stats from ICT regulator Infocomm Development Authority, Singapore’s mobile penetration clocked in at 130.6 percent, as of June 2009.

In the company’s last quarter ended Jun. 27, Apple sold 5.2 million iPhone units, a 626 percent climb from the previous year.

I just can’t grasp my fascination with the iPhone, and especially Apple products in particular of course. Their stuff are of premium prices, and there has been many claims and comparisons that there are better gadgets out there which cost far lesser … which I find is true.

I guess it’s one of those things that can’t be explained in terms of the price tag I reckon.

I see it more of an Apple lifestyle, and yes it can get pretty expensive if you’re an ardent fan of the consumer electronics giant.

Oh well, slap my tushee, call me an Apple fanboy and send me on my way.
I just can’t help it lah if I like Apple stuff.
