As I’ve mentioned in my previous entry, I’m moving all my stuff to a new server at HostGator. I just love their servers as it’s fast and great! Their support response time is fast when I contacted them but their knowledge base site leave little to be desired for.
Here’s the problem. I initially signed up with a account called SWAMP but then afterwards I realised I needed more server options, so I upgraded to ALUMINIUM RESELLER account. Reading up the knowledge base site explains that if I upgraded, I won’t be charged but in fact it’s FREE and I just need to top up on the price difference
Well I did the above, the server transfer was flawless and I was happy it went well, but after the next day I checked my invoice, I was billed FULL for the ALUMINIUM package plus the SWAMP package. I mean wtf! That’s billing for 2 accounts
So I contacted their support section which gives me some answers which sounds like as if it was some automated response. The response mentioned I need to pay the FULL fee for the new UPGRADED account which contradict the info I read up at the knowledge base site.
And if I did not probe them even further, they will still bill me for the SWAMP account for the next month. Take note HostGator user, if you upgrade your account, be sure to cancel the old account. If not. they will bill you for it, without you knowing! I mean wtf (expletively I needed to say that again)
This should be explained in the knowledge base site. If I had known the above, I would have signup with a new account rather than upgrading as it’s freaking cheaper with the HostGator coupon codes I have. It entitles me to lower fee prices when using it.
I hope this will help budding webmaster. And HostGator, your support sucks! However I still love your server

I have never had a problem with host gator. But… are you aware that they have a 30 day money back guarenetee? Or atleast they did when i last looked. I suppose this is way past 30 days now, but for future reference, you could have just cancelled your account, got your money back and purchased the new server.
