Elaine’s trip to Singapore

Sha March 26, 2007 21

Over the weekend, I was a busy ‘pup’. I had training, assignments, several events to cover, revision and lastly I ‘played’ host to my good blogger friend Elaine who came from KL.

She’s here to watch Phantom of the Opera, but in the end it wasn’t to be. Long story la. Well paiseh ah if these recent two days I’ve been MIA from my usual blogging duties.

Elaine well I met her though a mutual blog friend of mine, James (Hey dude when do you wanna meet up) … Overall it was a lovely weekend to say the least; albeit I’m ‘dead’ shagged right about now. Let me recall, here’s the event as it unfolds from Friday night onwards for my busy weekend.

dsc04310.jpg

Friday evening, The one with training

Friday’s training was at Gombak gym. There’s actually a gym inside the stadium and it’s built mainly for all national carded senior and junior athletes. The thing is, I’m not a national nor carded athlete myself but an ‘extra-extra’, but I’m glad I don’t have to pay for my gym usage.

Student mah = Really stingy! Other than the usual throwers, ATG, UK, WL, Veera group, the place is like a ‘white elephant’, no one using it.

After training with Mr Smarty Pants, I rushed down to Tiong Bahru around 8pm-ish to picked up Elaine. She kinda arrived earlier but she met her cousin first right off the bus coach.

The moment I met Elaine, first impression, she has not changed abit the last time I saw her, a year plus back I think. That youthful zest, the babydoll look and that ‘Bloomberg’ way of speaking.

Dei I’m an uncle and bangla, no need to get all ‘TV newscaster’ on me la. This girl got confidence like nobody business la, that’s a good thing. This is the same babe who likes to correct my spelling mistakes on MSN. She’s a smart girl who even got a job offer from Al-Jazeera!

The babe who just arrived in Singapore made her first immediate purchase already. It was a Guess handbag! Wah shopping seh, ‘cepat betul’

We hopped on to the train and headed West. The train ride that night was rather packed so the entire trip we kinda stood. Upon arriving Boon Lay, we went to Banquet at Jurong Point. Word of advise, the carrot cake and ice kachang sucks.

Where’s the service with the smiles man!?. Also I bumped into my little katik at JP. She was with her little lion. Hahaha caught you in the act babe!

We arrived kinda late into the night at my hall. Elaine bunking with me by the way. She got the bed while I get cosy and reacquaintance with the floor. I’ve a sleeping bag la. Kinda reminds me of my NS times. The floor never felt so good in my life as it was damn cooling and the weather that night is warm!

Infact it was so warm that night, that I couldn’t get any shut-eye and Elaine was still ‘fresh’, so we decided for some night supper. There was a new 24 hours shop that opened neaby my Hall. The flyers given out says Ben & Jerry! I mean wow Ben & Jerry outlet in NTU? Even boohoo NUS don’t have one. I was eager to check out the outlet.

We went to the specific location on the map as stated in the flyer. And to my disappointment, it was a 24 hours convenience store that sells Ben & Jerry ice-cream! Aiya the flyer so misleading! But good marketing … as I saw other blur cock NTU students also with that sotong ‘hey it’s not Ben & Jerry outlet’ look

Saturday morning, The one at Marine Vista

I had to wakeup bright an early as my usual Saturday morning are reserved for training at V location. As my alarm clock beeped 6.50am, I was glad I didn’t woke up Elaine. She was ‘sound’ asleep. I think it will take a bomb blast to wake her up :-p

Training there today was the usual pulling of sledge, blocks and some runs. But the difference that day, I had massage! Yeaaaa. I just love the masseuses. He’s a wealth of knowledge, and I’m gonna try some of his recommendation to strengthen my ‘cacat’ left leg. My last massage was few years back at SSC.

Even then I wasn’t supposed to get massaged as I wasn’t carded. Well the massage was painful but I had to endure it, I badly need it as my scar tissue from my last injury is still there. The massage will flush all the ‘bumps’ out. I was badly limping after the massage, but it was ‘shiok’ seh!

Saturday evening, Makan time

I arrived back to my Hall in the late evening. While going back in the train, I was already aching from my massage, and when I was seated in the train, there’s this two guys who was dozing off. One was a young dude and the other a husband.

His wife and the baby in the pram was also snoozing. The thing is, they were dozing and both these dudes was literally sleeping on me! Hahaha. Their heads and shoulder kept bumping into me. And poor me was in the middle of them.

Everyone was like looking and smirking in my direction. I felt like standing but I’ll feel bad if the two numskull mights bump their heads if I stood. So i endured it for the whole trip from City Hall.

Well anyway upon arriving back at Hall, the babe has yet made another purchase. An IPOD nano earlier in the day at Sim Lim, woohooo. Wah she’s on a shopping frenzy people, get out of her way.

We left my hall around 8pm-ish for Harbourfront to meet up with Hairol and QiQi for dinner at Marche.

It was our first time meeting QiQi infact, we’re all bloggers friend. She’s a slim one this gurl. I thought she was taller lah, but I think your height is just fine. Just don’t wear heels, then you’re taller than me! QiQi brought DOM, her guy friend (I shall refrain from explaining the acronym as it’s too obscene, haha)

So far, most of the reviews of the new Marche at Vivocity has been raved reviews. But I might say, it kinda taste and the atmosphere felt rather similar to the other Marche outlets at Suntec and Heeren. From the outside, the Vivocity’s Marche looked kinda ‘big’ but on the inside it’s quite cramped!

p1000114.jpg

The thing I like about Marche is it’s variety of food that’s being serve. You can choose and pick the dishes that you like. This outing, I loved the Calamari the most! It was not too soggy nor too crispy.

The ‘shredded’ chicken was nice too. ‘Sedap’. And I just love queing, there’s alot to see, smell and listen. Your senses just comes alive in the Marche environment.

dsc04315.jpg

Well recently, one common topic that’s always been brought up is about the movie 300. You know that awesome Frank Miller graphic novel turned into a flick?

I call it the ’6 pack’ movie. The lads in the movie are just so buffed and a few of my friends mentioned that watching the movie reminded them of me! Hahaha …

Ok I’m blowing my own ‘horn’ here. Well I did watched the movie and I think it was just awesome. 300 Spartans repel an onslaught of Persians war party wave after wave. Very da Bollywood seh! I likeeeeeeee

300-sha.jpg

After the meal, we contemplated to steal some souvenirs from Marche infact but the thing is, the cow was too big to fit into Elaine’s new Guess handbag … pffft! Get a bigger one babe!

Saturday late night, The one with Hak

At Vivo there, I infact bumped into another blogger. It was Hak. I might say bro, I was utterly disappointed that I didn’t manage to take a photo with you.

After our Marche meal, QiQi and DOM left, while the three of us, went to St James Power Station. I find it the very da ‘cheena’ place la.

It has couple of different areas to suit your entertainment needs, from Jazz, Latin to House. First up we went to club Power House. Don’t be fooled by the name, it’s not ‘Power’ la, more like ‘Boring’.

The crowd was more mature and no one was dancing. My two cute ‘chipmunks’ danced to themselves first, it took me awhile and some cajoling to get me boogey wogey.

dsc04318.jpg

That night I think I drank 4 glasses of the same drink. Fruit Punch! Hahaha, yeah I don’t drink people. So don’t get any wild ideas about me being the party animal. I’m quite harmless :-)

dsc04325.jpg

Each person has its own unique way of dancing. Well for Hairol has a certain coolness fluidity to his movement, while Elaine is quite the dancer. She gelek gelek until I cannot keep up at times. Hahaha. As for me, I’m the athlete type of dancer, I run on the spot. Hehehe …

dsc04320.jpg

Saturday morning, The one at MOS

We didn’t spend long at St James, we did however clocked some ‘quality’ time on the dance floor. It wasn’t too bad la, after midnight, St James has people dancing, still the feeling was not there yet. So we hop onto a cab and left for MOS! Yeah the grandaddy of local club.

dsc04334.jpg

We jumped from one genre of club area to another. From electronica at the main arena, to House music in the Tunnel, the Retro at Area54 and lastly hip hip at Smoove. It was definitely much better than St James!

dsc04328.jpg

The thing about local clubs, some of the so called ‘exported’ DJs are really crappy. Rather than bringing in these DJ, why not go local. I bet they know how to get the crowds ‘going’. Surprisingly that night, Disco music was awesome.

Area54 really got us 3 in jiggy wiggy mood. People was standing so close body to body at the dance floor and you can feel the warmth of each and every soul that’s dancing then.

dsc04333.jpg

Saturday supper, the one with Rudy & Siti

After our bogey wogey night, we went for supper at Arab Street. We to Al-Majlis there for some middle eastern food and sheesha. Well me & Hairol didn’t smoke it, the rest did. Rusydi was kind enough to ferry us there.

dsc04337.jpg

It’s been awhile since I met the dude. He brought someone ‘special’ in tow.

p1000147.jpg

I think everyone was tired. We didn’t stayed there long. I wish I could have spent more time there however, espiecally catching up with Rusydi. He’s going into Year 3 of his Poly now. I’m proud of the dude. Wow, time sure flies!

p1000145.jpg

After the supper, Rudy drove us back respectively. I was literally had my eyes half closed throughout most of the journey. So did Hairol and Elaine. We were shagged. Back safely in my room, both of us dragged ourself into the shower and quickly got into bed

Sunday morning, the one with MacDee

It was nearly 11am as I woke up the next day, so I showered and brisk walk my way to Canteen A MacDonald’s. The thought of eating pancakes that morning was very appealing!

Well to my disappointment, the NTU McDonald’s don’t serve breakfast during Sundays, only Mondays to Saturdays! Like wtf … Why not Sunday. Haiz, I instead ordered the McSpicy meal for myself and Elaine Rollover Chicken meal.

After our late breakfast, I had some event to cover, so I left Elaine for the moment. Around 6pm-ish I met her again down at Orchard Shaw there. She was meeting up with her other Singapore bloggers friends. They are nice and friendly.

Near to 7pm, Elaine left for KL … awwwwww

im sooo sorry bro but seriously if you were to take my photo the other day, im so gonna freak out if you put it up here.. haha.. just imagine, i was up all night “torning” at Cafe del Mar, after which, I went straight to work in the morning over there, and after alot of instant coffees, survived ten hours of keeping me awake.

so you get the drift? I was at my maximum slackest most fugleh and most serabai when I was there at Vivo. Haha.

I was shocked to see you there man, like too much of a coincident, cuz we were plannin to meet on that day too right. Haha.

Yeah Powerhouse, so true about “The crowd was more mature and no one was dancing”. They only start to be wild when the clock strikes midnight it seems.

The four of us should meet up real soooon. Well before I’m starting on my attachment. Yeah yeah, and tis time i will gladly pose a pic with you, and give you my autograph. Haha.

    Cheers!
