Old Buddies

As you grew older, you realise that you will experience a deeper discovery of life as it takes on a different vantage point.

You tend to be more mellow, slowing down and cherishing every little moment.

I’m not that old mind you, still in my prime (touch wood) by all means but I learn these days you have to enjoy the journey instead of the destination.

It becomes more frightening yet exciting as you grew older and its this journey of experience that you meet few trusted people you can depend, confide and turn to.

The kind of people who has similar history and make you feel comfortable.

Last weekend gave me a chance, not one … but in-fact but two chances to catch up with a few very dear friends.

Meet Charles. My junior at Special Ops unit, where I was serving my National Service stint back in 1998 (a compulsory 2.5 years military training to all locals here).

We gotten along well as he was also a Star Wars freak like me but we had other similar interest.

We became good friends since then.

Though we occasionally meet, even years after our last direct contact, it will be like old times when we finally decide to catch-up.

On another separate day, I met my two other old friends, Andy & Hairul.

Andy is the oldest amongst us while the baby is Hairul.

I’m the in-between.

We met five years ago, when we three were assigned to the same class at the start of our polytechnic education.

From the first day, we found out, we trio were formerly from the same ITE school (technical school), and knowing that, we bonded quite close over the next 3 years during our polytechnic years.

I can truly admit that these two has profound effect on me, that they are truly a part of who I am now

What can I say?

The wonderful, understanding friends I’ve made in the past few years will stay with me.

They have changed me in one way of another … Change is what I’m about.

I’ve certainly written enough about it here!

And I’m glad I’ve these lot of people as my close friends.

P.S. Happy New Year to all my Chinese friends
