Team Gila Gila reunion

Sha April 2, 2007 20

Yesterday I was out meeting some of my old alumni pals from Singapore Polytechnic. Well actually it’s our running relay group for the S’pore Poly annual Poly50 race, for which we called ourselves “Team Gila Gila“. It’s been quite sometime since we meet up, so we decided to chill in town yesterday.

Ok Dee, here’s the camwhore upon request. Taken in my room before leaving.

Usually going to Boon Lay interchange, I would take the bus 199, but I kinda grabbed a taxi that day, experimenting with my route options. It cost me $4. Hmm quite ok la considering the 199 option will take about 25 minutes tops, whilst the taxi ride I took, I arrived at the interchange in like less than 10 minutes. ‘$4‘ for the trip, time saved ‘priceless‘.

‘Makan’ time

All of us met up outside Orchard MRT around 6pm-ish and made our way to Republic Foodcourt. Not Republic Poly I mind you, haha. There was 6 of us, and I was kinda bummed out the rest of the team members couldn’t make it. Present was Andy, Juli, Hairul, Kheng Hwa + Girlfren Val and me. Missing in action was Yatie, Paul, Bryan and Hafiz.

Sunday at the foodcourt wasn’t that packed, we found vacant seats after some initial search. I was quite hungry then la, so I ordered Nasi Briyani as it looks kinda ‘yummy’. But upon tasting it, haiya it sucks la! Should have gone with the Nasi Padang instead. Just my luck, my ‘cheat’ day to eat fatty food and it’s crap! I feel cheated, I want my $5 back! :-(

Our table was never quiet, it was always filled with conversation thats corny, horny or either porny. Andy was the porny one, Kheng Hwa was the corny one, Hairul was the smiler, and me the horny one, Hahaha. Still they would probe me about who am I going out or dating. Being the only single there (hmm I think Hairul is attached?), I’ll feign and act blur, haha.

Being the ‘captain’, I was glad the team is still intact, thou we’re looking for new fresh runners now as some of our previous runners have either retired or gone elsewhere. If you’re a Singapore Polytechnic graduate and wish to have some fun in running, do contact me alright! Join Team Gila Gila

I don’t really have a big circle of friends, and it’s these few close friends that I truly cherish and at such times meeting up is really fun. You’re just happy seeing them and to share and catching up on old times, well, I can’t ask for more.

Watching a flick

After our dinner, we made our way to Shaw Centre. The four of us minus Kheng Hwa + girlfren decided to watch Jim Carrey’s movie Number 23. Hmmm the trailers can be deceiving la. It’s an ok movie but the plot kinda muddles up in the middle and the end. You should see it for yourself.

01042007114.jpg

After buying the tickets, the 6 of us just chill at the main lounge there at Shaw Centre. Kheng Hwa + girlfriend had to leave, so it was just the 4 of us left. It seems Hairul has a cat who gave birth to 9 kittens! Its that possible? Hahaha … and the couple Andy + Juli decided to adopt 2 of it, awwwwwww. I think this is some sort of training phase for them to prepare for the ‘big one’. I can’t wait to see, hold and play with little ‘Andy + Juli’ babies. Hey I’m still waiting!

dsc04395.jpg

I think most of our conversation revolves around relationship, our times back in poly and our future. Like education and work. Hairul and Andy plus me are pursuing our degrees and to think considering three of us comes from ITE background, we’ve gone far and we could really relate to each other well.

dsc04399.jpg

I do really miss these 2 guys. They’re my study buddies back in Poly. Hairul is a natural born whizkid at Math while Andy is a planner. And me, I’m just the tag along guy in Poly. Anything I don’t know, I’ll consult them. Now I’m in NTU all alone, it’s hard without these 2 guys.

There at Shaw I did spot David Tan of Electrico and some bloggers. Yanni I think I spot one of your friend.

Well after enough of ‘trash’ talking, we made our way to Lido Classic. I might say, Shaw has that ‘old school’ feeling to it when watching movies there, which is cool. But I still prefer Vivocity movie theatre though, it’s plush seats and leg space, you can’t beat that!

After the movies, we both parted ways … in different directions. To me, it was quite a short reunion lah. We’re still missing half the team and I do hope the next one, it will be as fun as this.

Journey back home

dsc04408.jpg

Even at late night, the train was filled with people. Haiz, I didn’t get any seat on the train until it reached Jurong East. Upon arriving the bus interchange, luckily I caught the last bus to my Hall, I had to sprint like 100 meter for it! That’s what I called night sprinting!

It was a good day well spent … until my next entry

these days, they think they’re being smart by cutting back on ingredients and making up for the lack of flavouring simply by pouring gravy on the rice.

aw c’mon. they really think we’re stupid. as businesspeople, they should know that repeat customers and positive word of mouth marketing bring the bulk of their revenue.

bad mistake. now that you’ve told us how they suck, we’ll never go there to give them our business. hopefully they close down, hahaha. so evil.

    • Uncle Sha April 3, 2007 at 9:18 am - Reply

Yeah there’s nothing special about the nasi briyani

it’s like eating rice with a chicken and the gravy is too bland

well yeah i do hope my ‘small’ review here plays its part, not that i’m a food reviewer lah.

close down? hmmm aren’t we too mean for that? haha

  7. Nas April 3, 2007 at 7:12 am - Reply

So u tried the nasi brayani there? Hah. I work in that area, bro. And that was the first and the last time. It really sucks. I agree. Not worth your five bucks. You should try their mee soto. I think it tastes better, tho.

Aniwae, it’s kinda friendly outing u guys had. Such a gathering really hard to come by. And your cam whoring… Gosh! …and that cheeky smile… One day try to pose nude la, baru ada “kick”. LOL.

    • Uncle Sha April 3, 2007 at 9:19 am - Reply

Ok i’ll try the mee soto next time

      yeah i love my friends
