   Interesting. But how to be Melayu when so many malays are actually MIX malay-(another race)? And even if someone is ‘pure’ Malay, he/she is almost always a Muslim and tends to embrace a lot of socalled ‘Islamic’ culture, most of which is actually ARAB culture.

   And how to preserve a lot of Malay traditions when religion (i.e. islam) has seeped so much into our Malay people? Oh religion forbids this, religion prohibits that, this haram, that haram, lama2 Malays are left wth almost no original traditional practices just because the religion most of them embrace says it’s “against the religion”.

   Being very fluent in Bahasa Melayu doesnt mean much. Just look at the interviews of socalled ‘top ethnic-Malay students’ in any national exam results aftermath. Harap atas kertas aja dapat distinctions for Malay Oral and Malay written exams. Tapi bila kena interview dlm bahasa melayu, nak complete one full Malay sentence pun macam semput2.

     Hahahaha betul, saya pun ada masalah berfasih Bahasa Melayu, tapi saya cuba lah.

     It has got to do with our school and work settings, it’s predominately dependable on good ol English for most people.

     Where can we practice our Bahasa aside from home and the occasional with friends. Itu pun Bahasa campur Inggeris.
