The extensive political freedom allows activists to exercise their right of freedom of speech in Malaysia, but that also means that people will also abuse this privilege.
The video below depicting a war-of-words between Malay NGOs loyal to the royal, and the Opposition, is really embarrassing for all the Malays out there.
The issue is over a bold statement by Zaid Ibrahim, a PKR-man commenting on the royals in Selangor.
Unless it’s a proper debate in chambers, you can never amount to any progress, and understanding. A shouting match at most will only get both parties more riled up, and come to blows.
Melayu di dalam video ini memang memalukan … sudah menghina orang, lepas itu kata nak pergi sembahyang.
Zaid’s effigy set on fire outside PKR HQ
A group representatives from Malay NGOs torched an effigy of Zaid Ibrahim in front of the PKR headquarters today in protest of the opposition politician’s alleged treason against the state.
Leading a 30-strong crowd chanting, Perkasa Youth chief Armand Azhar Abu Hanifah accused Zaid of being a “traitor” over a posting in his blog yesterday.
“If you cannot accept the Sultan as the head of Islam, please leave the state! You are now on Selangor territory, if you cannot respect the Selangor Sultan, we deem you to be traitors to the race!” said Armand.
