Not all Mat Rempits are criminals

Was reading the Star Online website and I saw this. Keke.

A news conference saying not all Mat Rempit should be generalised as criminals.

Only those who used their vehicles to commit crimes, including snatch thief and assault, should be considered as criminals.

For the clueless Mat Rempits is a term for an individual who participates in illegal street racing here.

Some of them perform crazy stunts for fun and usually travel in groups.

Their bikes have been modified extensively for greater speed, or just to make the exhaust noisier.

It is estimated that there are about 200,000 Mat Rempits in Malaysia.

As for Singapore we do have our very own Mat Rempits too, but most of them are more cautious and ‘civilized’ due to our stringent laws.
