The Ultimate Mat Rocker

There’s no point hiding my true self, I’m a true mat rocker at heart.

Anyone from the 80′s who listen to rock?

Yes people would say Rock is dead, but hey Black is Back, can’t I keep on hoping that one day Rock will return too

To think of it, I do look like a mat rocker if I were to sport the frizzy long hair.

You could say there’s a small cohort of old school Rocker still surviving

When I was young, I grew up hearing Search, Iron Maiden, and other rocker bands of the 80′s spanning to 90′s.

That’s before pop overtook the rock bands music genre. I love both genre and more

I was just introduced to Rock by the older groups of friends. It was the whole package, guitar under the HDB block, whistling to Scorpion’s Wind of chain and all

Even though I’ve interest in such genre, I could never master the guitar tabs. Some people are just not made to learn it I guess

Man Kidal awesome guitar solo

It’s been awhile since i hang out. Are scene of boys strumming the chords under the block still around? Or have our Malay boys moved on to better things .. PSP or LAN games perhaps?

During my time, bands such as Scorpion’s are hawt on our playlist when we’re chilling out. It just amaze me thinking back at some of the hilarious things we did.

For example, although some of us are naturally right handed, the few of us will die-die try to convince ourselves that we’re left-handed. It’s all because we’re trying to follow suit our idol; Man Kidal, the great guitarist from the band LeftHanded. He’s the lead guitarist who happens to be left-handed that we’re trying to emulate

Sounds foolish right, hey we were young

Back then, playing the guitar under the void deck might represent or gives an image of misconception that it’s a bunch of Melayu gathering wasting away, but I see it as a creative outlet, no different than rehearsing for a play. Don’t you think so

I would say that on such gatherings, we’re just a bunch of kid trying to have some fun. We’re not looking for any sorts of trouble.

Where can we actually go to chill and relax but under the void deck itself. To rent a jamming room session then … well we’re just kids, we couldn’t really afford one

We tried to abide the law by not making too much noise or gather too large in numbers, but still people, being Singaporeans, they love to complain

And yes, we’ve been stopped and spot-checked by the men in blue numerous times, to a point we got to know Mr Policeman, and even cheekily made a song for them every time they arrive.

In fact, it got rave review from them

Man I sure miss those days, lots of good times under the void deck. Not just guitar, but also soccer, hide & seek to getting to know the opposite sex. I’m pretty sure a few of you might be chuckling right about now, you were once a ‘budak bawah kolong jugak kan’

Recalling back, music-wise, it has made me appreciate music more than ever before

Well let me share you with my most mat emo song eva. You just have to be me, growing up to know how much these songs mean to me. Here’s a glimpse into my life

Scorpion’s “Still Loving You” with Vanessa Mae!! Double Hawt!!!

Ramli Sarip – Kamelia … classic hoarse voice!

May – Meniti Suratan (Live & Unplugged)

Rock is never dead! Long live rock!!

Rock has merely evolved into something more mainstream with bands like My Chemical Romance and The Killers, but they can never match the awesome, raw energy of Kiss, Deep Purple, Guns N Roses, Def Leppard and other rock bands of the 80s.

betul bro, thats modern rock, i listen to it but it never did leave much of an impression as old rock

you made songs for Mr Policeman? Can I have an encore? hahaha tt’s so cute lahh

while I never strummed a guitar bawah blok before, things like soccer, block catching and alipom are the ones that made me feel proud to be a neighbourhood boy. and come to think of it, it’s a much more cheaper and fun childhood than those of the boys today!

yup! cheap, fun, long lasting, cardio filled activities … gaming is fun but its so addictive to kids, sitting long hours on their bum playing electronics

    muzik
    orang
    pakaian

yang penting melodi nya yang asli
    ikhlas dan jujur
    bukan semata-mata melalak xtentu pasal

    semua itu HANYA DALAM LAGU
