I might say I’ve never really heard of Achik Spin, or Abdillah Murad Md Shari, actor and lead singer for Malaysian band Spin. But it seems the feed headlines on my desktop was all about his recent passing, resulted from a car accident that happened yesterday.

Achik, the vocalist of group Spin, was killed in an accident after his car crashed into a signboard at KM14 of the Kajang-Seremban Highway.
The 27-year-old artiste, whose real name was Abdillah Murad Md Shaari, was driving a Toyota Estima MPV when the accident occurred at 6.30pm yesterday.
He died on the spot due to massive head injuries. A friend, who was also in the car, survived.
State traffic chief ASP Halil Hamzah said police were still investigating the cause of the accident.
It is learnt that Achik was travelling to his house in Ampangan near here after taking part in a programme at RTM when the accident happened.
The friend said he was sleeping when a loud sound woke him up.
“I dozed off as soon as we got into the car. The next thing I heard was a loud crash,” said the friend, who broke his right arm and leg.
He said he saw Achik being thrown out of the car due to the impact of the crash.
Passers-by then helped him to get out of the car, which burst into flames minutes laters.Achik’s body has been sent to the Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital for post mortem.
Achik had a daughter Puteri Rania who died in 2007 after a bout of high fever. He married Rose Zaitul Suriani in 2005.
Apart from singing, Achik – known for his hit Janji Kita – was involved in a publishing business with his elder brother.
