The King of Pop might have died due to prescription drugs.

It is said that Jackson’s addiction to prescription drugs might have started back in 1984 when hair caught on fire during a Pepsi commercial shoot.

Being hospitalized for days with a burned scalp and in pain, that might have started his dependence on such drugs to get through it.

Even Deepak Chopra has come out and said to the media that Jackson asked him for painkillers in 2005 when Jackson was staying with him following his sex abuse trial.

Michael Jackson’s body was taken to an undisclosed mortuary tonight. The Los Angeles County Coroner’s office released Jackson’s body to his family late Friday night. No funeral arrangements have been announced.

More details on supposed cardiac arrest:

Physicians at the UCLA Medical Centre in Los Angeles worked for more than an hour to resuscitate pop icon Michael Jackson.

Jackson’s collapsed at his rented mansion outside Los Angeles.

Jermaine, Michael’s older brother says, “It is believed he suffered cardiac arrest at his home.”

The Los Angeles County coroner Fred Corral confirmed Jackson was pronounced dead at 2.26 p.m. (2126 GMT), but would not comment on the likely cause of his death.

The case has been assigned to the robbery and homicide team.

An autopsy would be carried out to determine the cause of death, with results to be released Friday.

A Los Angeles police helicopter transported Jackson’s body to the medical examiner’s office

A simple ambulance was used for the final transport.

If cardiac arrest is confirmed, medical experts says it could be heart attack, an aneurysm or a blood clot.

His mother was on the way to visit him when he is said to collapsed.

Thousands of internet users had already begun uploading tributes, shortly after he was announced dead.

Micro blogging site Twitter, also crashed under the sheer volume of traffic, where most of the Tweets was about the King of Pop.

There were over 50,000 tweets about Michael Jackson’s death in just one hour.

According to the Twitter tracking tool Twist, 23% of tweets contained the phrase “Michael Jackson” and the initials “MJ” accounted for about 9% of the tweets.

In total, at least 30% of tweets were remarking upon the musician’s tragic passing.

Jackson is also ranked in four of Google’s top ten trends this morning, under the topics “Michael Jackson died”, “Janet Jackson on Michael’s death”, “Michael Jackson’s kids pics” and “Michael Jackson’s son Blanket”.

This shows the new media has more effectiveness in reaching the masses faster than print media.
