I’ve never really much of a movie person kinda blogger who reviews and mentions flicks on the blog, but this time I really have to mention about Julie Taymor’s latest movie called “Across the Universe“. From the trailers itself, I was totally blown away from it’s love found, love lost, reality kicked in story concept and the fcuking amazing soundtracks!
It’s kinda like a movie musical, so if you’re not into this, don’t bother. The director is famous for her work like Frida, Titus, and the Broadway smash hit musical ‘The Lion King’. The writers are Dick Clement & Ian La Frenais, remember the excellent movie “The Commitments“?
Well anyway it’s a love story set against the backdrop of the 1960s amid the turbulent years of anti-war protest, mind exploration and rock ‘n roll.
The sets looks fcuking fantastic as seen from the trailers, which shows the dockyards of Liverpool to the creative psychedelia of Greenwich Village, from the riot-torn streets of Detroit to the killing fields of Vietnam.
I can relate to this as I love movies with great soundtracks, love lost kinda storyline and I was brought up in a post Vietnam war era in the late 70′s.
“Is love all we need?”
I can’t wait for this movie to be shown here. I do truly hope they will it show lah … because artsy film rarely gets the nod & ‘green light’ compared to the more popular mainstream ones.

cool show…
