Jo Koy Asian Comedian … Unbereevable

Well here’s another kickass Asian comedian that’s making his breakthrough. Jo Koy, remember that name!

I think we Singaporeans can better relate to him. For one he’s Phillipino and proud of it even though he’s Las Vegas born. Secondly his Asian jokes are hilarious. Well it’s not totally Asian, he infused abit of Western hilarity in it. Sometimes you just need to sit back, poke fun and laugh at ourselves.

So I decided to look for more of his videos. The second video below is much better with crude jokes being its not on TV but stand-up. He really struck a chord with me about having girls as your kids.

I’m so so insecure about the thought of another guy doing them!

Hahaha … Also look out for the surprise at the end of the stand-up.

Well not much articles about Jo Koy online. Wiki even. But I found one however. This interview cracked me up! Look what he has to say, read the short transcript.

Really hor, people have this misconception about Asians la. Blame it on the media

Jo Koy. “It comes from experience. I used to work at a hotel and we would check in these tours from Japan or whatever, and it would always be the same thing: Some co-worker would come up and be like, ‘Hey Jo, could you talk to them?’

and I’d be like, ‘Um, I’m Filipino – how’s that going to help these Japanese people? You want me to say the same thing you just did, only slower?’

Apparently if you’re remotely Asian you’re supposed to speak every dialect out there.”
