I love Zombies …

If there’s any movie genre I love, it is Zombies!

It’s weird however that though I like such gore, but I avoid paranormal and ghost films.

I mean I can stomach the viewing, but those movies are scary shite man, and I usually can’t sleep well for a few days afterwards.

So haunting, scary little girls on a swing or bicycle humming a monosyllabic tune, and evil Voodoo movie stuff is a big NO NO for me.

Yeah call me chicken, but friends don’t invite me to a movie session if you decide to watch such a genre.

Back to my Zombie films fascination, I’ve seen practically just about every movie and TV series regarding the genre. Below is my personal collection of ‘good’ Zombie stuff. It’s subjective of course, but I like these very much:

  1. Deadset

A British TV production. Well done, the story is pretty tight, but too bad it’s just five episodes. And Kelly died in the end.

  2. 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later

Another British classic. These fast moving zombies will get your adrenaline pumping just by watching them chasing after their prey.

  3. Dawn of the Dead

My ultimate favorite Zombie film of all time. The director Zack Snyder changed the perception of slow moving zombies, to fast sprinting ones. Scary shite man. Too bad it has a tragic end. All zombies film does. Why eh.

  4. I Am Legend

I wouldn’t say this is a zombie film, but the infected looks like one. There’s an alternate ending to this movie, and I prefer the alternate one, where Will Smith survived. Yes I’m a sucker for happy ending.

  5. Night Of The Living Dead

Oooh a remake off a classic 1968. I prefer the remake as the makeup is much better, editing is superb, and the movie pacing is excellent. But it showcase slow moving zombies, BAH!

  6. Resident Evil series

I’ve all the three series, and the fourth one is coming out soon. They have both slow and fast moving zombies, which is how it should be done. But over time, the series plot has become a bit unrealistic lah. Still Milla Jovovich is hot, she can kick my zombie ass anytime.

  7. Zombieland

A more upbeat and humorous take on Zombies. It has just the right balance of funny and scariness. A smart movie, and I like the plot. Too bad Bill Murray had to die however.

You know what, if I could I would want to be an extra in a Zombie film man. Yeah I’ll add that to my Bucket List. Sounds nifty. Anyone wants to join me eh?

Anyway I reckon I’m considered a Zombie Geek, and am proud to be one. Currently I’m pretty excited as there’s a new zombie TV series coming out soon. The recent trailer coming out of Comic-Con convention regarding it, depicts a promising production.

It’s called “The Walking Dead” and it stars Andrew Lincoln. You know that English guy from ‘Love Actually’ who happens to like the girl character, played by Keira Knightley, married to his best friend. The show is to premiere in October 2010. Woohoo!

The Walking Dead Trailer

I think it would be cool to be chased down by a pack of zombies. It should be exhilarating!

Of course try not to get caught, bitten and become one of them lah. Those characters in the movies who became zombies food-fodder usually trips over something, or hit into a wall as they were looking back.

Pfft I won’t make that mistake. Noobs …

So if it’s the end of the world and zombies are crawling all over, do seek me, as I’ve knowledge! Hahaha. You know how John Connor is the savior of mankind against the Machines, well I Uncle Sha is the savior of mankind against the Zombies.
