The thing about me is that I can be very discipline … however if I were to get distracted, I would be so TOTALLY sidelined doing something else rather than the goal at hand.
That’s my only gripe I’ve about me currently.
You know the eye patch that horse horses wears? Basically it helps the horses not to get startled and focused on the racing route ahead only. They’re called blinkers by the way.
I want to be similar to such horses ya know, to be single-mindedness when working, and not to get distracted.
Two things come to mind for me on how I could easily get distracted:
- YouTube – I could be flipping through the video site hours on end, watching footages that I don’t even like!
- Nutella spread and Ferrero Rocher – My knees get weak at the sight at these two delightful chocolate tidbits. I could finish them both under half an hour.
I’m a guy, its in our nature to solve and fix things, rather than talk things out, for which women does.
So to solve my problem, I bought myself a big-ass Ferrero Rocher chocolate sweet. (It came in 30 small offerings which cost me $15 plus smackaroos by the way!)
I told myself in the third person, “Uncle Sha, you would be rewarded one Ferrero Rocher chocolate at the end of the day only. Nothing else, nothing more. Instill discipline damnit!”
You know what, I’m on Day 9 now, it’s hard to resist the temptation, but it’s working out well for me so far. It’s kinda like a 30 day step program, haha.
As for the YouTube problem, I’ve totally removed the bookmark from my browser. Plus I added the URL in my firewall to deny me access to it at specific timeslot, the very period when I should be working.
That very much solves my two problem for now … So far I’ve been more productive this week. YAY!
More work is being done now, translate into more money generated, which means I can finally get my Vietnam-mail-order-bride sooner than expected … just kidding!
The anal things I do to yield more results, what do you expect, I’m an engineer by training!
