If I were to ever get a new place, well I will surely remember my stay here at the current crib.
The thing is, the first week of staying here itself, I got locked out of my own room!
The landlord was away overseas and the other tenant wasn’t around.
So I was fcuked up for any help there.
It all stems from my cocknathen blurness as I had two sets of keys, one was my old place and the other was my current one.
Guess which one I took with me when I locked my room and about to leave the house.
Luckily I didn’t locked myself out of the house or I will be in a more fcuked up situation eh.
Do you remember when Homer did the ‘Doh’ sound and slaps his forehead each time he found himself in a silly predicament … well put my head onto Homer’s.
When I finally accepted the fact that this is happening to me, I got down to weigh my alternatives. I could call the locksmith, but that will cost.
How about knocking down the door, again it would cost me if I were to damage anything for replacement. Also I tried soft hitting the door to find out how tough was the door. Oh boy it was sturdy.
So it boils down to my years of TV watching when I was younger that saved the day.
- Firstly I tried the credit card method. I had my POSB and OCBC card with me. I’ll be damn if I was to damage them. The EZlink card was too thick, so I opt for some plastic card I found around the house. It didn’t work despite going at it for 15 minutes
- Secondly I was frustrated by this time. So I took a knife and keeping poking at the lock edge and surrounding door panel to pry it open ya know. It’s like a virgin showing his weener around, hoping to get laid. The thing is you never know if it will ever work. This was useless
- Lastly I began to think how would a lock thinks. Yes as loony as it may sound, I got into my Zen. ‘Wax on, Wax off’ as Sensei Miyagi would always say. Locks works by activating all the right keypoints. So I conjured whatever wire I could find around the house and a Phillips screwdriver. The wire triggers the keypoints and the screwdriver act as the shaft of a key, to mimic the clockwise twist action of the lock to finally open the door. Guess what it worked!
Wah your this uncle not bad ah. McGuyver in the making seh. I think the lock for this door ain’t too complicated. I think I need a new challenge. Anyone with being locked out, you know who to call.
