Last year my school, NTU raised the school fees by 5%, so I had to fork out another $800++ on my own, as my school loan contract only covers some $5200++ per year.
Now they want to raise it another 3%. Thats at least another $180++ I’ve to fork out again p/year …
According to my calculations, I’ll be in debt and broke till I’m 69years old repaying my loans.
I don’t think the school fees raised is justifiable!
I was rejected by the student assistance scheme and still not eligible …
the increased fees which mostly goes to the teaching staff, most of them are more concerned about their research than student welfare, except for a few good ones …
the upgraded facilities are redundant; e.g long waiting time for buses, slow feeder bus service, new building wings that I wont even get to use …
bogus misc students fees such as Student Union & Sports fee which I’m not affiliated to.
Don’t even get me started on the so called enhancements my school has built for the students.
Heres a statement from the respective school registrars
Said Er Meng Hwa, Deputy President of NTU, “The increase will go toward helping the unI’versity to recover rising costs. More importantly, the new fees contribute to the host of enhancements that the unI’versity has made.”
Ang Siau Gek, NUS Registrar, “In 2001 there was a plan to increase fees steadily over a few years because we are meeting with an increase on cost. But because of economic conditions during that period of time, we had to maintain fees. It was only in 2005 that we increased fees by 5 percent. That increase has not been able to meet with costs over this long period of time. So inevitably we have to increase fees now.”
So this entry is about me offering my services to all.
