Of soccer, memoirs and national service

So I missed yesterday’s entry, blame it on Euro 2008 lah
I couldn’t tell if today was Tuesday or Wednesday, with what the odd hours I’ve been up and awake

This Euro edition is damn gerek, especially when Italy lost, I went yipee-doodle-yee
And I do really think Holland and Spain, always the underachievers will do wonders this time round

So anyway, after I woke up rather darn late today from prior Euro 2008 match watching engagements …
I decided to clean up a bit around the place after work, and I stumbled onto my old memoirs

Yes before I was on the blogging platform, we have this thing called pen & paper. We wrote on it

I find that with my memoirs, I really wrote like there’s no tomorrow. Emotions scribbled freely all over
But compared with blogging, I felt there’s a certain form of ‘restriction’ knowing people will read it

As I was flipping through the memoirs it really stirred up old emotions and flashbacks
I was grinning, smirking and grimacing all at the same time reading it

My last memoir entries was during my ‘trying’ National Service time back in the 90′s
After that period of time, I found and fell in love with the Internet
“Cyberway Internet Inc” influenced me to the dark side baby!

As I looked back now a lot of years later, and now after stumbling onto my memoirs
I realized my happiest time was when I was in National Service

God knows, not that I liked my civil service job then
and there’s sure nothing to like about National Service too
But it was for my own selfish reason; because I was young

I think many of you ‘old’ guys out there can relate to me

Tell me every time you go back for reservist in-camp training, you look forward to it right
Wanting to meet old NS buddies, regurgitating old NS stories during lepak session and such

Well the thing is we don’t even like each other back then
And now we’re like bradas

Life is weird hur …
