Last Sunday, one of my old track buddies got married. I attended a couple of weddings this year and by far, this one conjures a lot of happy memories.
It was back in my Polytechnic days some 5 years back, when I first started out during Year One. I was fresh coming out of National Service and still finding my ways in and around school.
I then decided to join the Track & Field club as I wanted basically to find a budding athlete to run with, as that point of time, I was training alone.
The day I joined the training it earmarked the best time of my life.
I met a bunch of great friends whom I’m still in contact even though we have parted ways and leading different lives.
I really cherished those moments we had during our polytechnic track & field days.
Sometimes we as a group would rebel against management decision, albeit we had good intention, unfortunately many didn’t see it that way.
It’s very heartening yet a tinge of sadness overcame me as I witness my young juniors growing up in front of my eyes.
Once geeky, odd looking, hair displaced, introvert … are now beautiful swans and of becoming a gentleman in their own rights.
I’m proud of them and I hope they will pursue what we have learned during those wonder years, to follow your dreams and achieve your goals.
