Jean Yip Hairdressing Sucks

Jean Yip Hairdressing sucks

Well yesterday I decided to cut my hair. I needed to anyway as it has grown to a tarzan’s length. My last cut was like 2 months plus ago I believe. After my weekly grocery shopping, well I scoured around Jurong Point.

I would usually go to a Malay barber, there was one I found infact for $12 at Level 3, but I decided for some mini ‘make-over’. I dun mind the extra cash splurge to beautify my locks … haha, I sound so gay and vain!

Well there was Jantzen, Storm or something, and there’s Jean Yip hairdressing. All look so cheena seh, but among these three, I found that the last one has people all smiling. So I decided to cut here. But oh boy did I somewhat regretted going there la!

The aftercut. My emote look. Emote = Emo + Tetek look
Tetek look

The thing is, the whole time I was at the salon, I didn’t once feel all comfortable. The moment I stepped into the salon, a lady who looks like she’s having PMS or bad day greeted me.

Being a total noob (newcomer) to salon, you could at least tell me what’s going on. She just ‘shoved’ me in the seat and started shampooing my hair.

You guys should know shampooing hair is fun, with the massage and all, but this lady was shampooing and washing my hair as if doing other people’s dirty laundry. With no love man. Then I was left seated all alone waiting.

Only after awhile did I know after my own observation that they have different set of people doing different jobs. So I had to wait for the one cutting my hair next. Wah lau, tell me la! I was sitting there reading this magazine like from 2004! A women magazine infact. The moment I turn the page, there’s the tampon article … like eyywww too much info.

Jean Yip Hairdressing sucks

The one cutting my hair is much friendlier. I like her, at least we had some kind of conversation going on. Usually when I go to the barber we would usually engage in some kind of conversation but not today. The cutter just asked what style I want and when the last time I cut my hair. And some small talks, thats it.

Well here’s two other photos to show my new monkey look. When I left Jurong Point with the new hairstyle, I did however raised a couple of heads turning my way. Unfortunately it’s not girls, it’s some Bangla and hedgehogs

I feel that hair salon being a service industry, yesterday outing to this particular salon really showed how much we’re lacking in terms of good service. I mean people fork out the extra bucks for that extra little ‘first class’ service mah and in return I get crap.

I dun even mind ‘second class’ service, but I didn’t even get that. Maybe it’s been a long tiring day for them but the least show some smile and class la. Well that’s the last time I’m going there. Sayonara ..

P.S The haircut cost me $24.95

actually, you should have a personal hair stylist… first, must venture a good hair salon… then, when you are comfortable with that hair stylist, he would knw what you want, and would do you hair… most of the time…

to tell you the truth.. i don go for branded hair salon.. mine is jus below my block.. a unisex hair salon… i like the shampoo person and my hair stylist…

    they very the kool!!!

and my hair, cut and wash only $14.00!!! hehehehhehehe :D

Or can go to Kimage at city hall (funan center)

For 16 dollars you can have shampoo, cut and style. Or worse to worst go to those 10 dollar 10 minute cut thing.

i know! go for botak je lah. so easy to mantain! u should try those yang kat bawah block je. i prefer an old hairdresser than a young one. because they are very particular about haircuts. but u need to tell them how u want it to be. cos they can be very old fashioned!

    • Uncle Sha February 13, 2007 at 4:32 pm - Reply

ala nah i’ll go botak again when my hair is falling out la, now can kacak sikit

i used to go to those hdb salon or barber at my old place ($8 to $12 range). now my place takde la babe

old hairdresser tahu ker potong new hairstyle

      • teeshah February 14, 2007 at 1:04 am - Reply

as long as that person can potong rambut dengan cermat dan teliti, i’m all for it. in all honesty, i believe only orang veteran sahaja yang paham selok belok rambot. and i would never step into QB man! I know its just 10 dollars. But I wont trust someone to cut my hair within 10 minutes!!!!!!!!

        • Uncle Sha February 14, 2007 at 8:17 am - Reply

          agreed!

i’ve stepped into QB once, and i’ll never cut there again lor

do they work based on number of ppl they cut eh? why the hurry

  11. nurizz February 13, 2007 at 10:37 pm - Reply

    correct…. correct!
u getting older liaoz….. soon ur hair MIGHT start falling off (touch wood!) heehhehee…. then u can try the sexy botak look.

i’ll give the same answer… i only cut my hair at the aunty salon under my block. vverrryyy good and cheap =)

but then hor… sometimes my mother cut one also. also good. free what~

You turned a few heads with your new haircut? hmm.. maybe they wanted to ask you where you got your hair cut.. :P In a month or two, your hair will look better. :) Just don’t go to Jean Yip again.

    • Uncle Sha February 14, 2007 at 8:22 am - Reply

yeah good advice, me not goin there anymore

well the hair is kinda ok, its the service there i don’t like

  13. Haksmic February 13, 2007 at 11:54 pm - Reply

Haha.. I didnt try Jean Yip out, cuz its like if the salon’s kinda renowned, it’s bound to have alot of arrogant stylists. Well eff them. My friend tried Storm and it was kinda sucky as well, it wasnt to his desired hairstyle. I tried Jantzen, and i think it was kinda good..

ala.. senang senang.. pergi qb 10-min hair cut salon sua…

    • Uncle Sha February 14, 2007 at 8:24 am - Reply

ok i try that jantan salon then next time

i tried civic center QB at woodlands, bad cut + bad service
