I’m pretty much a laid-back person, my idea of a ‘formal’ attire is tshirt and jeans, and the usual ‘lepak’ look of this Uncle is me wearing a sporty-top and berms.
But at times, there’s a need for me to attend functions, and I’ve no choice but the need to look smart, and not selekeh.
The last time I bought such nice clothing was a few years back for my graduation, and the job interviews a few weeks later after that.
The past two weeks or so, I’ve been asking my fashionista friends to help me in my shopping spree, and they’ve been really helpful to this Uncle who is a fashion-disaster always.
Well being that I’m a sporty dude, I have the measurements of a body that’s ideal to wear most outfit, and look good in them, I got the chest, shoulder and ass. I’ve been told I’ve similar body type as Daniel Craig.
But on rare occasion I stumbled, like I can never ever fit into a skinny slim cut pants, my thighs are too muscular big!
So far I learned:
- I look better in modern fit shirt
- The length of your pants covers about a quarter the top part of your shoes, anything more than that would be considered too long.
- When you’re wearing a suit, match your sock color to your pants, not your shoes.
- Since I’m tanned, I look better in dark colors or bright colors outfit that match the strength of my dark skin color.
- If you have very fair skin, lighter colors suits you better like soft pastels.
- Wearing a crew neck tee under a dress shirt is NO NO.
- Try wearing a v-neck undershirt and you’ll look a far better.
- Cotton shirts are hardly wrinkle-free, go for something that has both cotton and polyester
- I found that stainless-steel bracelet watches are dressy enough to be worn with a business suit and casual enough for other occasions.
- It’s better to buy watches with larger than standard faces.
- Watches should fit snugly and not move on your arms, without leaving an imprint on your wrist.
