I’ve been pretty silent over the PageRank issue, ever since Big daddy Google started to do a PageRank update a few weeks back
I’m just sitting back and observing this demolition derby by Google recently, stomping on everyday bloggers who does ‘evil’ to their algorithm
Recently there’s another round of PageRank update. Plenty of ‘visible’ popular blogs got demoted to PR0. I’m not sure if this is permanent, temporary or just another one of those fluctuating PR updates, but I got a couple of PR0 on my blogs
Ok, now we all know why there’s a delay in this quarter PageRank, Google have been busy at silicon valley there, coming out with a viable solution to combat link selling
That is to hurt publisher where it hits the most … our PageRank
And believe me I don’t think Google is stopping there. Next stop is probably SERP (search engine result page)
I admit, a large chunk of my my online business income comes from selling links and reviews, and I’m at a cross road where I need a new business model to generate the same income I’m making now
Get this straight, I’m not trying to make Google make stupid, hey I’m just trying to earn honest money online and it looks like selling links and making reviews are not the way to go these days
So I’m going clean
Yes I’ve stopped doing reviews, plus I’ve taken out the paid links. So there you go Google, you win. I want your organic traffic and I want my little green PageRank bar that says PR4. Or perhaps PR5? Pwetty please Big G
I know I shouldn’t worry about PageRank. They keep telling me, you don’t write for Google, you write for yourself. True enough but I’ll lie to myself if I don’t have an inkling of a notion wanting some kind of PR. Being at PR0 is so humiliating, knowing this blog well is somewhat ‘better’ than some of the crappy blogs out there
Yes yes I’m blogging for myself, and the Adsense and the affiliate income, but god forbid if I shall ever sell links or reviews anymore … Oooh cross my heart and hope to die
Aaaah crap, not PR0, for the love of god … yes laugh all you want
Edit: I just read somewhere that organic hits to blogs are not related to Google’s PageRank. So that might mean PageRank has no relation to SERPs in sense. I’m still not sure of this new information and if this is indeed true, this bodes well, as I care more now about SERPs rather than PageRank
Wow Google is going harsh with paid links now :-/
Indeed they are
I think Google doesn’t want to have 2nd wife and so forth in the form of paid links, etc.
Google: “You say you will marry me and only me a few years back. I have to castrate you now for venturing into the forbidden zone.”
Hehe
wah good analogy there
so google is the faithful type
Hi Sha,
Google frowns upon on paid reviews and links.
Personally, I don’t really favor them too.
Your blog has the quality. Why not just focus on quality content that adds value to your visitors? Actually you are already doing that.
Just that maybe you had a tad too much ads in your blog.
Still, I feel that your blog will arise again. That I’m sure, cos you serve good content.
Keep your chin up.
Cheers,
Jag

bro your blog has a potential of PR6, trust me. big G is really going crazy. i really think PR will be obsolete soon. perhaps alexa or technorati rankings would be more ‘valuable’
Well it might go defunct but not anytime soon … Big G still rules the Internet
Looks like I’ve to comply
