Orang Kaya Baru

OCBC NTU card

The Malay term “Orang kaya baru” actually means “new rich dude”, but in my case it’s totally not la.

I’m as broke as a bastard, but couldn’t care less.

But I still applied for this debit-visa card thingie. It’s my first ever so called ‘plastic card’.

I was surprised there’s not much requirement for one to apply such cards.

No wonder plenty of people are in-debts.

I don’t believe in purchasing for your stuff in credits, but I do however need the VISA card for my Internet purchases.

Prior this this I’ve been relying on my friend credit card for such purchases, and I’ll pay him in cash later on.

So I guess after donkeys years of ‘piggyback’, it’s about time I get my own card.

Well that’s that.

Now I’m looking for a sugar-mummy or datin … anyone knows or recommendations?

No banglas please.

P.S. Message of the day “Happy New Year”. Eat more bakua since it’s the Year of the Pig

Debit cards are easy to get. There isnt a minimum income to adhere to because its just debitting money from your account. Credit cards on the other hand requires a person to earn at least 1.65k a month if I’m not wrong. For platinum cards it will be higher.

I have a debit but I dare not get a credit card. Its evil.

      hi5.

for me i can afford debit sekarang jer …

its true that the temptation is more likely if you’ve a credit card knowing in your mind you will pay it later. and we all know that the credit will just pile up

    congrats on ur plastic card..
actually, what marina said is not true.. credit cards are not necessarily evil.. its the user or owner responsibility to use it wisely…

to me, credit card is essential, if u enjoy fine and dine, or shopping.. since gst is goin up at 7%, there are places, where certain credit cards’s owner get up to 10 – 15% discount…

its good lor… u dont have to pay for the gst and also the service charges!!! :D

i think you should greet “be careful and good luck” rather than “congrats” … haha

self-restraint on using the plastic card is best i guess but kita kan manusia, ada temptation … talking about temptations, the show “Temptation Island” comes to mind … haha, ok I’m going off topic

I look forward to use my debit bard on some of those perks as u mention eddy. so far what i got readup, i like the 10% off at cathay movies. but my fren OUB is 12%. haha, gonna apply that one too!

shah, everyone can apply for debit card but not credit card cos you need a min income of 30k per annum.. yang ni card you tak akan jadi bankrupt punya..

never apply CREDIT CARDS cos you will go broke broke pokai hangus kosong each time you get your paypacket! cash is the best or debit card is the best. i’ve learnt a lesson – a great terrible lesson, boleh sepak2 muka kita sendiri masa tu!! and in a month time – im debt free!! yippee!!

you nak sugar mummy eh.. i carikan eh.. ahahh!! lambatlah!

hrm..When I was doing part-tijme in a certain graduate society (its not all civilised in there!!), I had to deal with the DBS platinum application with regards to the members.
Erm,Plat card holders have to earn at least 43k but it could be flexible and you guys can actually set a spending limit to it=)
What I do know though, every transaction you guys do, you’ll have some “hidden” service charge for that. So its still better to use cash cause nets will be laden with a service charge soon..
    Stretch that dollar baybeh!=D
Well if you’re thrifty as me la.. I’m just a student working and paying all my stuff on my own to keep my ass afloat LOL!=)

Tell me about it, being a tertiary student is hard these days. You’re not of young age to be supported by your parents anymore and you’ve graduated to earn your own bucks, so you’re like the in-between …

thanks for the advise, i also looking for every means to ‘stretchhhhhh’ that cents … not dollar in my case, haha

Actually according to MAS regulations, you need to have min 30k income to hold any kind of credit cards.

And its like so sad cuz I have tended to quite a number of customers who spend more then what they have, as they get twice the spending power they’re supposed to have, thus spiralling their debts.

Yang sedihnya, ramai di antara mereka adalah orang kita :/

I’m not surprised by that statistics

well at least we all are aware of such ‘temptation’ … hopefully none of us will fall into that trap
