Anwar Taking Oath

Heard of new DNA sampling legislation in Malaysia? I chuckled when I heard it of course, and I truly think the timing couldn’t be better and no wonder its so controversial.

It looks to me and plenty out there, as though they’re ‘cornering’ Anwar and desperate for ways to repress this newly elected Parliamentarian opposition leader

Anwar himself was just sworn in yesterday at Parliament from his Pematang Pauh landslide win, and what did Anwar did just hours after his swearing in … well his first official act as a Parliamentarian, he staged a walkout to protest the new DNA sampling legislation. Classic!

Well he had to as the new bill will allow the authorities to take swabs of DNA from ‘suspected’ criminals even without consent from the suspect. There goes the notion ‘innocent until proven guilty’ eh

Anwar claims the Barisan Nasional is targeting him and the new legislation will tamper with his DNA for his alleged sodomy case. So Anwar and all his 81 opposition lawmakers walked out of Parliament, refusing to participate and establish a special committee to review the bill

Well things are set to be heating up in Malaysia … well I just hope for stability as it will affect those in Singapore and surrounding countries

I think we should consider about others too such as the rape victims. Yes, the timing is coincide with Anwar’s case but the bill has been long drafted waiting to be tabled in the Parliament. For many years, Malaysians have been crying for such law to be enacted, so why cancel it now?
Taking the suspect’s DNA does not mean the suspect is guilty. In fact, it is one way to clear the suspect from the list of possible wrongdoer.

But the prosecutor side must ensure there’s no tampering, thus guarantee the accused by using a third party. I think this is where the issue lies

hey fellow anwar supporter! i really like him a lot as a politician. in one aspect, his way of talking. i mean abdullah is like mahathir, both makes me sleep. but anwar is… refreshing!

and by the looks of it, yes BN is so desperate to unsettle him. seems to me that anwar is their main threat. it’s so fun to watch the drama unfold and despite all these allegations, anwar is still standing firm which is exactly what make me respect him a lot.

Ismail: What are you talking about? The Bill is extremely flawed.

    - BN refuse to let independent experts contribute to the Bill. They obviously want to hide the flaws.

    - The Bill allows the police to collect the sample, and don’t allow separate independent scientists to test the sample. How is this fair and not easily manipulated? It’s ridiculous.

    - It also allows for too broad a range of samples.

Take your silly reasoning elsewhere, UMNO cybertrooper. The rakyat is not stupid.
