Local Papers

Did you read the New Paper yesterday?

Well the first two pages, about how local buses are being vandalized by youth and the cost incurred for that. Ok fine, itself a valid story … but to me it’s just sounds like some media coverage stunt trying to justify the increase in transport cost.

Then there’s also the article on Myanmar gahmen crackdown on Monk-led protesters where scores of people are injured and deaths are piling up. And guess which page it was … Page 16

Bleah … local paper just ___________
You fill in the blanks yourselves

For me, I can’t never rely on one source of news. Yes I do read the local news, but I do also read overseas coverage via the Internet.

It’s quite ‘enlightening’ there’s two sides of an opinion on how media coverage can be

disappointed seh … hows your progress? you do know I’m not using my handphone right, handphone problems

I do read it, I get it free via my TV room there, I don’t like however when they start to subscribe people to use ST online

      • LTS September 30, 2007 at 3:42 pm - Reply

That goes without saying that the enlightened must also read from other sources. BBC or YahooNews have very good updates, I have been going there for my Burma staples. It’s just that I am bewildered when people pooh-pooh a product they have not glanced at, much less consume. It’s already embarrassing to be an ignoramus, isn’t it shameful to be ignorant about being an ignoramus, too? And yet think they’re being cool and a genius, and be so aksi papaya about it. Like that, forever will be frog in a well lor. YA, I agree that ST online should not be paid crap. Yahoonews lah, the best. I like. Your handphone cannot use ah? I don’t know.

EH, WANT TO IFTAR TOGETHER ONE OF THESE DAYS?! I still have your Philippine mangoes!

As long as it’s local newspapers, I don’t like reading them. Well, there are important news, but when it comes to touchy matters like this, it doesn’t matter TNP or ST, you won’t get the true full coverage, if you get the drift.

So does it matter if someone doesn’t read the ST for news like this? Sha I really respect you, because your readers can even get emotionally affected, somehow, over something you’ve not been doing. T

    All hail Sha.

Er… Khairul, putting the news source matter aside, I don’t think you know my relationship with Sha that well to make that “emotionally affected” speculation. Just don’t. Thanks.

Haha, no la me and LTS go a long long way back!

if i can exert that kind of influence, i’ll probably be out there in the battlefield or conning people :p

yup read foreign correspondent to get an impartial overview

I guess TNP can be quite irritatin.. like the monkey face on the tree in jurong west, remember that? because of TNP, everyone now knows abt it..cause such a nuisance..like baik2 org tak tahu, everyone now knows..right? right?
sha, i’m so sad.. dont have that much holidays now to read your blog regularly and comment.. outdated gitu..haha..

TNP, ST, BH, LHZ, etc. all crap lah. Boycott Singapore newspapers! All controlled by the gahmen!

And what is that bullshit that ST Interactive is trying with its readers? Pay to read crap when it’s available for free elsewhere? I’d rather read the NYT or CNN online.

Ahhhh …. !!! Read blogs better!

    • Uncle Sha September 30, 2007 at 12:57 pm - Reply

      ooh what a revelation eh

but blogs are subjective to the blog owner opinion. maybe a mix of bloggers + various papers
