Well here’s an interesting article I wish to share. What do you think is the most hardest sports around. Here’s a compilation of the most received feedback by sports people. You’ll be surprised by some of the choices. I do feel running the 400m should be in there! Haha, to me that’s hard! 400m runners should know

Number #10 – The Downhill

Downhill

The downhill is an 80-mph exercise in balance and control. With little protection, ski racers hurl themselves down an icy mountain course, alternately digging in their edges to carve the fastest line through turns and putting their skis flat on the snow to gain speed in the straightaways. They fight gravitational and centrifugal forces at every stage in the race.

Number #9 – Saving a penalty kick

Penalty

On the soccer field, the goalkeeper’s job is to protect a goal that is 24 feet wide and eight feet high — 192 square feet waiting to swallow a ball about 9 inches in diameter. During a penalty kick, the goalie has 0.25 seconds to move and block a ball traveling at more than 60 mph.

Number #8 – Tour de France

Tour de France

The Tour de France covers more than 2,500 miles in three weeks and requires a variety of cycling skills that must be performed at levels far beyond those of recreational riders. On flat stretches of the course, tour riders must maintain speeds more than 30 mph for hours on stretch. During mountain climbs, cyclists must be able to ride up mountain roads with grades as steep as 15%.

Number #7 – Running a marathon

Marathon

Running a 26.2-mile race is physically demanding and requires a runner to be disciplined, well-trained and able to withstand pain. Runners, including elite marathoners, often suffer from nagging injuries in the lower back, knees, shins, ankles, Achilles’ tendons and feet. However, most runners will say the reward of finishing a marathon justifies the pain.

Number #6 – Landing a quad

Land a Quad

Executing a quad toe loop requires a skater to balance height and rotation while skating on a metal blade a quarter of an inch wide. During a successful quad jump, a skater will reach heights of 18 inches above the ice and experience 300 pounds of centrifugal force, all while spinning four times in just over .5 seconds.

Number #5 – Returning a serve

Serve

Traveling at over 130 mph, a tennis serve by today’s top tennis players is traveling at 185 feet per second. At that speed, a player trying to return the serve has a half second to react and return the serve.

Number #4 – Hitting a long straight tee shot

Tee Shot

Driving a golf ball far and long seems to be an easy thing, until you try it; even professionals have trouble with it. Last year on the PGA tour, only two players, Tiger Woods and Chris Smith, ranked in the top ten for both driving distance and greens in regulation.

Number #3 – Pole Vaulting

Pole Vault

Vaulting is a matter of redirecting kinectic energy of the runner’s approach speed upward, aided by a long fiberglass pole. To do it, athletes need speed for the sprint, strength for lift-off and flexibility to bend the body over the bar.

Number #2 – Race car driving

Racing Car

Skilled drivers encounter a host of problems, but rounding the corners of the track is equivalent to having three 300-pound linemen pushing you for three of the four hours it takes to conclude a race.

Number #1 – Hitting a baseball

Baseball

Considering that a major-league pitch can reaches speeds more than 95 mph, hitters have only 0.4 seconds to find the ball, decide where the ball is going and swing the bat.

i’d like to try tennis. the rest looks so dangerous.

  2. joeyu says:

the hardest sports are 1. boxing 2. ice hockey everthing else is a pussy sport!

    • Uncle Sha says:

i’ve never tried ice hockey but i know boxing. damn alot of cardio there. people just don’t know the amount of effort into getting fit plus the punches you’ve to deliver

thanks for the feedback mate! :-)

  3. stephanie says:

uhm what about gymnastics? obviously you dont know how hard that is you try tumbling on a 4 inch wide beam thats alreay 5 feet off the ground. id like to see some of yall try that!

  4. daish says:

Yeah where is gymnastics??!This list needs to be revised!

  5. Lindz says:

well gymnastics should be on there. if you talk about anysport you can relate it back to gymnastics like saying a football player has to have good balance or so does a hockey player ummm HELLO gymnast flip over a 4 inch beam everydayy thats already feet off the ground! then you have to land it without a bobble.

  6. Zoe says:

OKAY whoever thinks that gymnastics isn’t hard, are all assholes. why don’t you watch this video, and tell me…is that easy?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ce0Eh0fCkXU&feature=related

you all go and try to swing around and around and around on bars, even if your calluses the size of quarters rip open, try and do things literally defying the laws of physics–on a four inch elevated plank of wood, try sprinting to a stationary “horse” doing multiple flips and twists and having to stick it…meaning land on your two feet….no steps or hops, oh and try doing a minute and a half of things like some dance moves and five passes of flips and twists.
do everything i just mentioned while being marked down for every wrong lift of the foot, bend in the knee, or small errors. being watched and judged on what you are doing wrong. TRY that. just TRY it. tell me what you think and get back to me on that “gymnastics isnt hard” thing

  7. julian says:

running a marathon. u have time to think about the pain. over two hours of oxygen debt and fatigue.

  8. mattie says:

um excuse me but gymnastics is way harder than hitting a baseball. im kindof offended gymnastics isnt as easy as it looks u can probably hit a baseball when ur 40. but u cant do an arabian on balance beam now could u! this list is not accurate at all!

    :p

    • Ian says:

You don’t know what your talking about, I did gymnastics when I was younger and was ok, now I’m an avid baseball player. Not only can pitchers throw the ball anywhere in between ur elbow an knees, he can also change the movement of the ball, and the velocity. You have to modify your swing for all this… All within .4 seconds

  9. kaili says:

Everybody thinks something diffrent about each and every sport…..but really GYMNASTICS IS HARDER THAN IT LOOKS!!! Like all the other emails gymnastics is way harder than baseball or basketball or tennis. try doin tricks that could kill you everyday. Try doing a backflip on the (4inch)beam and tell me thats not hard….or even a double back on floor and landing on your head….. i call a remake of this list #1GYMNASTICS

  10. melissa says:

    Badminton staat in de top3
het is heel erg goed voor je conditie
en het is heel zwaar en vermoeiend.
    niet te verglijken met campingbadminton
