Aiyoo why I have such ‘high-class’ friends.
At a recent outing, I got outvoted 3:1 in favor of a more atas (classy) eating establishment when we went for our makan (eating place).
They’re an alright bunch my friends, no they’re not snobs, nor pretentious or anything like that, but obviously the fact we were born in the wrong era showed.
I’m a 70′s kids, and I love my kopitiam, hawker food, the mamaks stalls, while they’re like a decade younger than me, so their taste and liking for food, and the environment differs than mine.
The food I had during dinner after training was edible, but there was no oommph lah.
Take for example for the below dessert at a certain place in Cineleisure which will remain unknown.
For $6.90 I could order three of such similar desserts at the kopitiam! And the Cineleisure one I had wasn’t too palatable to my tastebud. Too sweet, like me :p
Or the pasta joint we went to. For that kind of price I paid, I could have many dishes of nan, kway teow, laksa, and fishball noodle. Hey it’s still carbs what right.

I’m not trying to be cheap here, I would willingly fork out good money IF the food taste great. But it seems the most atas eateries I went nowadays, the food taste like crap, and it’s expensive too!
I actually wanted to go to Al-Ameen the day earlier, but I was ‘denied’ & I threw a mini-hissy-fit, which was unlike and rare of me, heh. Give me a sarabat stall, or kopitiam any time of the day man, and I would gladly walk a thousand mile with ya for it.

make a trip to Perth.. I’ll bring you to places where the food is really good..
Ooh yeah, I love hawker centers, where else can you get good food at cheap prices :-)
