Well it’s been nearly two weeks since the new LTA’s distance-based fares has been implemented.
I’ve so far refrained myself from commenting on it until I’ve observed the extend of its usage and what it’s costing me nowadays when traveling around using the public transport.
Well despite what LTA and gahmen are promising of “fairer system”, “flat rates for journeys longer”, to even “lower transport cost”, it ain’t the case for me.
So far my transport expenses has increased by 15 per cent!
There has also been reports that commuters are claiming their bus fares up 40 per cent after new calculation.
Well I’m not the only one that has experienced a hike in my bus and trains fare. Check out this EDMW forum thread regarding the topic at hand, “To verify LTA’s claim that most commuters will enjoy reduced fare with distance-based“.
Nearly 85 per cent of the total votes indicates that they’re paying more now than before … celaka betul.

Well I’m not surprised, as you can never believe what our gahmen, politicians, or government-linked companies has to say.
There’s always a hidden agenda, with personal gains, and no company ever implement any new directives, setting out to lose money.
Why can’t anyone just tell the truth nowadays, rather than belit-belit. It’s simple, just say “there’s gonna be changes, and it will cost you more. You don’t have a choice”.
LTA maths fail, I’m paying more leh!
The new fares system I reckon is preparing the commuters to the future implementation of shorter bus routes, trains usage as main transportation mode, and pulling off the long-haul bus services.
