Advertorial
Yes I must admit I’m a Manhattan Fish Market noob, and with the kind invite of the people at Grayling PR, I’m no longer a ‘virgin’.
It was a meal for two plus one at MFM’s Plaza Singapura outlet; that’s Manhattan Fish Market for the clueless who’s wondering of the term MFM.
No I didn’t brought a date lah, but one of my training partners. He’s leaving for his studies in the UK soon, so the outing was also a farewell dinner for him.
I had a selection of spread at Manhattan Fish Market, and with my bottomless pit of a stomach, it sure was a sumptuous meal. Overall the meal was satisfying, save for one. Well read on, for my review regarding the food.
And for those wondering if it’s a Halal outlet, well yesh it is. Plastered at the front of each of their outlet (as seen in the below photo) is the Halal logo, and if you’re paranoid, you can request to check their certificate, and make a trip to the kitchen to supervise the cooking :p
Decor-wise, it’s a dimly-lit place, perfect for dates, and although I was comfortable, but to me I felt squeezy. They could make the seating area wider, and plusher.

Baked Fish in Garden Herb
If you’re visiting MFM, you’ve got to try this dish man! Both me and my friend was in agreement that this is one tasty meal. The herbs were just so sedap! It got me salivating just thinking about it.
MFM should just remove the rice, chips, and the other garnish, and serve this alone. Its a healthier choice too, with all that fish, and herbs, it shouldn’t contain that much trans fat, if it has any anyway.

Baked Pacific Dory
I believe the next dish is called ‘Baked Pacific Dory’. And the first thing that came to my mind when I read ‘Baked Pacific Dory’ on the menu, was recalling the fish character Dory from “Finding Nemo”. You know the forgetful blue fish with short term memory.
So in a way, I’m eating Ellen DeGeneres, who voiced Dory, haha. Yes I know I’m lame.
After the above excellent dish, the other selection would of course be pale in comparison, but still it’s worth a try. It has a unique butter soury taste to it.

Flaming Platter for One
Just take a look of the meal in photo below. What do you think? It sure looks delicious right. It has squid, prawns, chips, fish, to rice.
Well this is MFM signature dish; I was even told they had modified the chips recently via feedback, to make it extra crunchier to nibble.

Hmm well sorry to say, but the dish was the least enjoyable for me and my buddy.
It is still edible of course, but it just didn’t work our tastebud. Yes we were impressed with the food presentation, the huge servings, and the flaming cooking demo of the prawns, but we just didn’t enjoy it as much as our previous two meals.

Menu Starters
Of course before we had our main meals, the starters came first. The first on the list was Garlic Butter Mussels. A perfect starter for what’s coming up next. The only gripe I had was that it was a few measly mussels. I know, I’m such a fussy big-eater!

I believe the next starter is Fried Country Mushroom. The bad thing about starters is that such dishes are forgettable. Once it’s on the table, it’s gone in the next few seconds.
I can’t even recall how this dish tastes like, haha. I’m like the worst food reviewer right. I wonder if any other restaurants would still invite me after reading this, keke.

The next starter I believe is Almond Fried Prawns. Yes I know it’s annoying right, that I can’t even recall what the dish is called. Please do vote for me if there’s ever a category for worst food blogger. Well I only recall enjoying the crumbs. I can’t really recall the prawns though.

The Drinks
What’s a meal without beverages. It seems my eating buddy likes the Tropical Breeze. It has a unique taste to it. He told me it has a sweet-sour taste to it if I recalled.
As for me I had Bandung Freeze. It’s the first time I’ve had my bandung in freeze form. It was part of my Mediterranean Baked Fish + Bandung Freeze set meal.
The selection of drinks at Manhattan Fish Market ranges from cool drinks such as Sprite and Ice Peach, to Juices such as milk shakes and Orange Juice.

Desserts
Last but not the least; it came down to the desserts to end the meal. Oooh the Mahattan Mud Pie is Sedap x Infinity! And no it’s not made of mud lah. Where have you been suaku dufus … it’s a chocolate-based dessert pie with lots of CHOCOLATE!

The next dessert is the Chocolate Brownie. It taste sweet and nice, of course that is if you’re able to eat it. I gave up after a few tries of scooping it off with my spoon.
I know brownies are supposed to be hard and dense, but the one I got was rock hard solid. Too bad lah. I instead focused on the ice-cream topping instead.

Overall it was an excellent makan outing. I really loved the Baked Fish in Garden Herb, and will be recommending people the dish if anyone I know is going to MFM. I myself will be heading to the place again, should I have a craving for it.
If you’re heading to Manhattan Fish Market, I do recommend you to get the Mediterranean Baked Fish + Bandung Freeze set meal. It’s worth a deal for just $14.90.

Also Manhattan Fish Market should really take a look at their signature fish and chips dishes. We believe it just needs a little tweaking to make it taste more palatable.
