Obama in Singapore

Yes the man himself President Barack Obama of USA will be in Singapore between November 14-15th during the 17th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation leaders meeting.

I guess those who are gaga about the Nobel Peace Laureate Obama, this is the best chance for you to get a glimpse of him from a distance perhaps.

The security would be awfully tight, and I’m not sure if there will be a total lockdown of the location for the APEC meeting at the Suntec Singapore International Convention and Exhibition Centre, but you could try your luck.

Barack Obama has embarked on his first visit to Asia since taking office as US president in January.

The four-nation tour, taking him to Japan, China, South Korea and a regional summit in Singapore, is intended to strengthen some important alliances and may also bring him into contact with senior officials from Myanmar’s military government.

Al Jazeera’s senior Washington correspondent Rob Reynolds looks at Obama’s Asian agenda.

And conjunction with the Obama visit, human rights activists are taking potshots on Singapore’s gahmen stance on our opposition, calling Obama to deal with the issue when he’s here.

Well I was reading the latest by a correspondent at Huffington Post, and as much as I agree on the ‘harshness’ dealt with our local opposition, I can’t fathom on how there will be any changes.

Obama might bring up the topic, dishes out a few advise, but our local policy, and legal system are dictated by you-know-whose-name-shall-not-be-spoken.

In Singapore it’s not wise to be Yaya-Payaya and stand out. There’s likely to be crackdown, and you’re likely to be demonised by the majority.

It’s safer to be just be a drone, and be obedient.
