What do you think if let’s say the government were to employ Internet rules over Singapore bloggers. Rules where you have to follow and comply governed by the official mandate.
Follow it to the tee or suffer prosecution. Well our local politician has commented in today’s Today Paper NewComment section [NEWSCLIP] that there’s a growing need to deal with blogs that ‘offend’.
Well what do they consider offensive? Blogs that covers topics such as ethnic and religious content it seems.

A recent proposal was made out recently for local legislator and enforcer to give the necessary power to deal with such blogger.
Would such proposal be lawfully passed one day, I’ll admit we’re becoming more and more a controlled state.
Well China is doing it, and Malaysia even currently are thinking the same line as us to pass new Internet laws.
I personally feel that not all bloggers are offending in nature.
Most are rather passive and knows the responsibility in proper blogging ethics.
Accountability issue I guess is the main concern with most blogs nowadays.
To hide behind an online persona will not guarantee you security lads. They can still track you down.
So bloggers, be responsible with what you post and bear in mind it is public domain.
Anyone and everyone has access to it, even password encrypted ones
So if you want to play safe, buy a diary
