Singapore are neighbours to Indonesia which sits in an active quake zone, which has been hit regularly by devastating earthquakes since 2004, so I would guess we have to get used to the news of Singapore experiencing more earthquake tremors in the coming years.
But no worries, experts says we’re safe, and I want to believe that. Still I’ve my doubts, so I’ll keep on researching on my own. Here’s Razor TV coverage posted below that I found online. Insightful but it has yet to convince me.
Biggest tremor yet to come
Geological experts predict that an earthquake of the same destructive scale that caused the 2004 tsunami will strike within decades.
It will take place off the coast of Sumatra, and will be felt in Singapore. It will be the greatest quake we will experience but fear not, we are still safe.
60,000 lives
That’s the death toll expected, should a giant tsunami hit Padang. Some Nanyang Technological University students made a documentary on the Indonesian island of Mentawai, where the next big earthquake is expected to hit. They share their experiences, and we get a glimpse of life on the island.
