Everything is getting more expensive in Singapore! I just hope the increase in tariffs won’t result in my landlord increasing my rental fees.
Did you know Singapore was ranked second among 21 cities for raising electricity tariffs most and that tells we need more competition, subsidies and transparency in the power sector. Currently we have no choice, either pay up or shut up type of services.
We the consumers are made to pay for Temasek Holding and Government of Singapore Investment Corporation losses, which is probably the cause for the increase in the tariffs.
The daylight robbery turns into huge profit for SP Services which in-turns flows the revenue out of the country into foreign hands while our gahmen sit idle with no say or subsidies for its own people.
Well that’s what you get when our public utility is sold to foreign firms just to earn massive profits from its people. Money makes the world go round right.
This just pisses me off. Another reason to put on my PRO/CON list for bailing Singapore and opting for another country.

Tariffs do have their benefits. Do you find yourself feeling the pinch and become more prudent when you use electricity? The general public will be more cautious about using electricity and this will reduce carbon emission that is needed for the power stations to generate electricity.
You are one of the unwilling party doing your part to become more eco-friendly :)

got la! if you opt for giro, every top-up 25 cents le.. I mean, I’m not the kind who cares for that mere 25 cents, but I feel angry to be paying my 25 cents for zero added service. I just don’t want to be the one to contribute my money to the board of SMRT’s big fat bonus
