My style when working is to listen to the online radio, it just makes the work less boring ya know.
But ever since there’s a recent songs copyright issue regarding Singapore radio stations and song companies, they’ve ceased broadcasting online radios.
That just sucks. These local radios are too worried to get their ass sued, so its better to pull the plug rather abruptly, and without any notice.
And the future of Singapore online radio doesn’t looks bright as the recent updates as I heard is that, the talks between local radios over new license fees with the Recording Industry Performance Singapore (Rips) broke down.
Radio stations now need to pay record companies when their songs are being played on the Internet are part of a radio broadcast.
Well to find an alternative for my work ‘fix’, I sought online radio broadcast of other countries. Guess where I turned to. Malaysia of course. Yes Malaysia Boleh!
I’m now listening to Red 104.9FM on a daily basis for the past week. A Kuala Lumpur based radio station. So by now instead of hearing traffic report of our ECP, Clementi or Jalan Kayu, I get traffic report about Petaling Street and such or sale promotions at 1 Utama Shopping Centre or other KL malls … haha.
